Malamawi Island also known as the crown jewel of Basilan
The sea is calling. Too bad this beautiful place is an insurgent hotspot. But I've been there, and have tremendously enjoyed the beach for a whole day.

Jolo, Sulu in Mindanao earned its popularity and notoriety mostly for the wrong reasons. A history of kidnappings make this place an unpopular tourist destination. What the news and social media fail to show however are the people – their warmth, hospitality and generosity as well as the natural beauty of this place like this amazing sunrise.
