Lack of integrity and Non-responsive
This was not a good experience.
Trying to keep this short, because this has already taken up enough of my time.
The first night we had discomfort from the quality of the air and cleanliness of the place. While the home looked organized, I doubt that it was thoroughly cleaned anytime recently. My partner and I both woke up congested and sneezing. We left this home that same morning, and was no longer experiencing any of these reactions shortly after.
We took photos, as directed by Vrbo, of areas of the house that we felt contributed to the house feeling unclean, including a photo of what looked like mouse feces.
The host was nonresponsive the whole day until Vrbo reached out to them that night. We decided that we were done with that place and did not occupy the space after that first morning. There was no suggestion of how the issue of cleaninesse could be resolved, and we were not partially refunded for the two nights we didn't stay there. Luckily we were able to get accommodations elsewhere, and this did not ruin our trip.
*ALSO, not shared in the original post, is that there is a rentable unit attached to the house. The unit shares a wall with the bathroom and one of the rooms in the house. This was not known until the welcome message emailed the day before our stay. And there was indeed people renting out that space that we could hear through the bathroom. We wouldn't have booked here if we knew this prior.*
