** Under New Management and Cleaners in 2026** Welcome to Hale Maika'i (Excellent / Fine House) This 3 Story house is steps to beach-shore access. Listen to the sounds of the ocean and enjoy ocean views from the second and third-floor rooms and lanais! Boasting nearly 4,000 finished square feet and Five (5) lanais! African mahogany cabinets, front and rear dual mango wood staircases, new granite countertops, tile flooring, completely air-conditioned with (6) split systems, reverse osmosis water filtration system. Enjoy the epic views from the 3rd story spacious Master ensuite with lots of windows and double French doors that lead to the private lanai with ocean views. .It's the perfect place to relax, unwind, or fall asleep to the soothing sound of the gentle breaking surf. While the sounds and views of the ocean take all the attention, two more lanais overlook peace and tranquil backyard with bird calls and Hawaiian flowers and vegetation with views of 3 mountains. Complete tranquility in paradise as there are no houses or streets behind the house!

When ripe, enjoy the many fresh fruits that grow on this property such as mangoes, papayas, bananas, limes, ruby-red grapefruits, mandarin oranges and coconuts. Enjoy the gorgeous, flowering landscaped yard with ample lawn for your family to play or walk across the street to the beach-shore access. Here you will discover the 1.5 miles of incredible blue pacific shoreline that boasts world-class snorkeling and diving that makes Puako so famous.

Situated Puako Beach Drive, the home is near the Petroglyph State Park and is bordered by state land with incredible views of Mauna Kea, Mauna Loa and Kohala Mountains. From this location it is a pleasant walk to the Fairmont Orchid Hotel and Mauna Lani Bay Hotel along the shore. Walk to secluded Puako Beach or Hapuna Beach is approximately 1 mile to the north, top 10 beach in the world!

Hale Maika'i is an incredible hidden gem on Kohala Coast of the Big Island that is surely to become the Icon of Puako! Puako, the best kept secret on the Big Island, with just a few lucky residents, it is simply heaven on earth!

Kitchen was fully stocked with most condiments, some seasonings and had all utensils required to confidently cook for a large group of people.Balconies could use some cleaning for comfortable sitting and use.Having baby gates available for use was very appreciated.Lower floor of home had a strong odor that may make it challenging for some to sleep. However, beds were comfortable and plenty of room for large groups of people.

We had a wonderful stay at this home in Waimea! The house has plenty of room, making it perfect for families or groups. It was well-stocked with everything we needed during our trip — from kitchen essentials to beach gear, which made things super convenient.The location is fantastic — just a short walk across the road to the ocean, where we were able to catch a glimpse of the resting sea turtles. It’s also just a quick drive to Hapuna Beach, one of the most beautiful beaches on the island.Overall, it’s a peaceful and comfortable place to stay with a perfect mix of relaxation and adventure nearby. We’d definitely come back!

Great house! Great location! Perfect for our family of 12. Loved that we could pick fresh limes from the garden. The host and ohana were amazing and very responsive. They even went and got us baby gates so our 1-year-old could stay safe with the stairs. We highly recommend!

The Best Rental Around

Wow, what an amazing house! The rooms were spacious and easily accommodated our large family. Beautiful sunshine poured into the house which made coffee in the morning and drinks in the evenings on the many lanai's very enjoyable. The back yard was peaceful and full of song birds, but what I loved most was being able to walk to the ocean in under a minute! This is definitely the nicest place we have stayed on the island and would definitely stay here again.
