Wow, where do I start? First, don’t let anyone talk you out of visiting/staying in Kaneohe. It’s beautiful, although with quirks with rain, but which would you rather have? A rain shower in paradise or rain shower in boring mainland? Gail and Red’s place is wonderful. A bedroom on the main floor where my parents in their 80s stayed, then a master and another bedroom upstairs where my grown kids (in their 20s) stayed. A quiet neighborhood to get away from it all, with beautiful water and mountain views. Your biggest decision to make is where to relax? The pool, the den, or one of the 3 Lanais?
A quick 5-10 minute ride to the mall/grocery/Starbucks (civilization) and 15 minutes to Kailua (great beach). Gail and Red are the best hosts. We enjoyed talking to them and hear their story of how they ended up in paradise.
My niece, her husband and baby were welcome to visit during the day. We were able to find and charter a boat for a day to go to the sandbar, snorkel at the reefs and all the way to the Chinaman’s hat and the secret beach (shhhh) by the mud flats.
To be honest, if we end up in Oahu again, we’ll stay here instead of fighting with the craziness and traffic of Waikiki and Honolulu. It’s only a hop, skip and a jump!
