Above all else, before being in the business of a vacation rental, this property is our home and has been for over 50 years now. We have NEVER had bed bugs in our home. Our home is maintained and fumigated against pests to the extent that we just had a major $17K tent fumigation 2 months prior to Dr. Zoe H. and her guests arrival. If there ever were any bed bugs, which there weren’t, they would have been eradicated during this process. We live in the tropics, there are mosquitoes. Mosquito bites are a common unfortunate occurrence for guests. Also, in looking up bed bugs online, at one website servicewithaloha, it says, “a bite from a bed bug may not appear for as long as two weeks.” So, if in fact the guest did have bites from bed bugs, he would have gotten them somewhere else. We did inspect the bed and stayed in the bed for a few nights after this horrendous accusation and there were no signs or any evidence of any bed bugs. My 18 year old son has been helping with the cleaning. He has much more strength and stamina which he used to scrub and clean for nearly 3 hours. He neglected to get 2 washcloths from the upstairs bathroom and empty the small trashcan. I profusely apologized for this oversight. I normally do a walk through, but was unable to the night before their arrival. My mother was going to do it before the guests arrived, but we were trying to accommodate Dr. Zoe’s early check-in request. Every thing else had been cleaned, but because Dr. Zoe saw these items not addressed, she said the entire place hadn’t been cleaned which is a completely false assertion. My 82 year old mother and I cleaned all of the linens and made the beds together. There was no sand in the bed (as she asserted) let alone a wrinkle in the sheets. It doesn’t seem like anything would appease Dr. Zoe. She was unhappy with condiments, coffee (including sugar & creamer) and a bag of rice being left in the refrigerator for guests to use. Most guests are grateful to not have to purchase these items. She thinks however that everything in the refrigerator should be disposed of after a guest leaves. She can run her business however she sees fit, however, it doesn’t seem like her patients care for the way she runs her business. Among the very many 1 star reviews from the Vitals website, “She is atrocious. She doesn’t listen to your concerns and thinks she is better than you. The pretentiousness oozes from her skin from the moment she opens her mouth. Please, do not trust this doctor with your health. Don’t make the same mistake I made.” “She is a horrible doctor! No bedside manner at all, cold and rude and careless.” And also among the many 1 star reviews from Healthgrades website, “Not a great experience. Cold, terse, rushed, poor communication skills. Lacked nuance. Not a “people person.” I hope to not cross paths with Dr. Haruyama again.“ Another was, “Horrible human being.” If I had seen these reviews before giving her a reservation in our home, I would have never welcomed her into our home. Sometimes you just can’t please an unhappy, negative person.
