Enjoy island living in this beautifully appointed 1-bedroom, 1-bathroom ground-floor condo at Pono Kai. The unit features a fully equipped kitchen and a spacious living area with a Murphy bed, offering comfortable accommodations for additional guests. The private bedroom includes a queen-size bed, while the condo is fully stocked with fresh linens, towels, soap, shampoo, conditioner, and all essential kitchen appliances and utilities. Step outside to lush tropical gardens and take in serene views of the Pacific Ocean just a few steps away. Perfect for a relaxing and convenient Kauai getaway.

Thie lush Garden Island Condo is located at the Pono Kai Resort in the historic town of Kapa'a, Kauai. Kapa'a has a small town feel and the resort is within walking distance of restaurants, boutiques, shopping and grocery stores. And if you’re there on the first Saturday of the month, Kapa'a features live music, local crafts and food. You can rent bicycles right next door to the Pono Kai and the resort is located within 5 minutes from all water activities; canoeing, kayaking, surfing, etc...

Pono Kai has many amenities and activities on site. Tennis, basketball, exercise room, shuffleboard, horse shoes, mini golf, croquet court, board games, just to name a few.  There are also BBQ's located throughout the resort and coin operated laundry facilities are located on the ground floor within each building.

The Pono Kai is a great resort where you can truly relax and enjoy all that the Garden island of Kauai has to offer. Come enjoy your stay with us!

When we arrived, the walls around the doors and light switches eere, so I washed then down myself. There were not enough dishes in the unit(6 plates, 6sauces, etc) necessitating hand-washing dishes between meals or running a mostly empty dishwasher. There are no small-medium storage dishes. The only skillet does not have a flat bottom. We were provided only two each of towels and washclothes for a whole week. There were dead flies on the bedroom window sill. On a positive note, maintenance was quick to respond when the slider door needed repair. All the people we encountered.were friendly, helpful and responsive

Nice resort stay with a full kitchen

We enjoyed the condo at Pono Kai. Helpful staff, nice amenities like tennis, pool and hot tub. We cook a lot so it was nice to have a kitchen. Not a ton of dishes and accessories, but enough to cook several meals. Overall - a very nice place for the money.

Started out BAD, as our room AC was not working. Rhey brought us a potable AC, then mived us to an upgraded room with a ocean view. After that everything was geeat.

Great place & location

This VRBO was perfect from my girlfriend and I. We felt right at home being able to cook, watch movies and hang by the pool when we wanted. It’s also in a very central area with lots to do in a walking distance. We enjoyed this place very much and will def look to stay here again. Highly recommended!

Another amazing condo stay

We have stayed at Pono Kai for over 15 years and always love it. Normally we have the kids with us and get a 2 bedroom. This time we didn’t take the kids, so we rented the 1 bedroom with Murphy bed in the parlor. To say we were pleased is an understatement. The condo was spacious, clean and the air conditioner worked great. Russ our host was INCREDIBLE with communication and we extended our stay there as we loved it that much. It is hard having family come visit for dinner as the resort itself only always registered guests in the pool area so be aware of that rule. Recommend this condo 100%

Right in the middle of Paradise

Pono Kai is a great location on Kauai. Lots of things to do close to where you are. We stayed 7 days and didn't use a full tank of gas. Yet we were doing something everyday! The lighthouse at kileaua, bike path, Smith family luau, Capt Andy's star BBQ coastline Cruise, Wailau kayak adventure, and one day enjoying the facilities @ Pono Kai & Beach! Love every minute celebrating my wife's birthday week! Mahalo!

Loved our stay at Pono Kai!

This was the perfect property for me and my daughter (11) for a few days before being joined by my partner! Awesome amenities available, close to the bike path, and walking distance to downtown kapaa. Will definitely book again!

Well run property

All the basics well covered. Enjoyed being able to walk to the town in 3-5 minutes. While we did not have a oceanfront view access to the ocean was excellent.

Loved the Suite, convenient 1st floor, parking near entrance, close to beach, pool and walking trail along coast. We stayed over 3 weeks, only downside was the small couch was not a relaxing design. Overall, the resort is excellent, and next time we come back, we would stay again!

Pono Kai knows how to streamline your Aloha vacation.

Pono Kai knows how to take the worry out of a vacation. Lots to do on and off property. Did not experience road noise at night, unless emergency vehicles. Most guests respected the quiet time hours. A relaxing stay highly recommended ground floor unit.

The place has outdated furniture from the 70’s, the overall experience was good. The place was clean, the closet and slider were not working when arrived but were fixed right away. The hallways were having the flooring removed which were moldy smelling. But the hallways should be better in the future.

Lovely property

We are so glad we chose both this apartment and property. It is a comfortable space with everything we needed. The town of Kaap’a turned out to be extremely convenient for exploring all parts of the island and Pono Kai is close to some nice restaurants and shops and being able to walk the path a few steps to the beach from our unit was an extra bonus.

As advertised, and pleasantly surprised

Unit as advertised. Pull down bed works well. Adequate utensils, etc. Unit clean. Air conditioner works well. I think what really impressed was the grounds and the amenities there. If you have kids, koi feeding is at 8am :-)
