“I have nothing to compare it with as this is my first experience of youth hostels in 40 years. I was impressed. I loved the open area, bar and restaurant. The dormitory was excellent. Beds were well spaced, ample plug sockets, mattress & pillows excellent. Clean sheets and super mattress. The bed was as good as any 5 star hotel. Honestly. The shower was clean but a little small. “The hostel is cozy, located close to the lake, and within a short drive or a hike from Scafell. The food at the restaurant is fantastic. There is also a kitchen which can be used to cook your own food. The staff are all very friendly.”

“YHA Grasmere is a massive, well-maintained property with a really great team of staff. The kitchen and dining areas are huge and spotless, and having plenty of showers on every floor means you never have to wait around. The rooms, showers, and toilets were all kept very clean. Just a couple of minor maintenance issues: the light fixture above the mirror in my room didn't work, and one of the toilets took a few tries to get it to flush properly.
