The Space:

Salty SolMate is the kind of house that surprises you. Guests tell us the pictures don't do it justice — and they're right. Inside and out, every detail has been thought through: memory foam mattresses, Frette towels, Lather soaps, a kitchen stocked for real cooking, complimentary water, and treats on arrival, and an outdoor space designed for lingering long after dinner.



The lower carport area is the social hub. Hot tub, outdoor bar, two swing beds, hammock swings, and an outdoor shower. Take a left out of the driveway, and you're two minutes to the Bay Drive gazebo — one of the best sunset walks on the OBX. Take a right, and Hayman Park is one quiet block away. Free beach parking at Hayman Beach is straight across the stop sign at the end of the street - pack the beach gear and go!



September and October are genuinely special here. The crowds thin out, the temperatures drop just enough to make the hot tub feel like a destination, and the sunsets on Bay Drive get longer and more dramatic. Even on rainy days — and OBX always has at least one — the covered ground-level carport area keeps everyone entertained. Guests have set up corn hole, kept the kids busy, and stayed completely dry without missing a beat.

The Neighborhood:

Salty SolMate sits on a quiet residential street in Kill Devil Hills with some of the best walkability of any house in the area — right off the main road and super convenient for getting everywhere on the island.



Turn left out of the driveway — 2 minutes to the Bay Drive bayfront gazebo and flex path, where the soundside sunsets are stunning, especially in September and October when the light turns golden, and the crowds are long gone.



Turn right — Hayman Park is one block down, no busy roads to cross. Continue to the stop sign at the end of Hayman Boulevard, go straight, and you're at free parking for Hayman Beach.



No circling. No fees.



10-minute walk to Front Porch Café for your morning coffee.



This neighborhood is as good as it gets for families who want to walk everywhere and still feel tucked away from the tourist strip. This home is located in a neighborhood with full-time owners. Please be mindful of noise.

This rental agreement applies to "everyone" staying or visiting the property. If you are booking on Airbnb, you will receive a link to the rental agreement in the Airbnb app.



Guest Verification with Truvi

Trust & Safety Fee

Our company applies a single, nonrefundable fee for a Safely Protection Policy. We do not collect a security deposit. A Safely Protection Policy (short-term rental insurance) ensures that the guest, the home, and its contents are protected during the stay.



Property Access & Maintenance

From time to time, our homes may require preventative or emergency maintenance. While we make every effort to avoid any interruptions to your stay, Sojourn reserves the right to access the property after providing 24 hours’ written notice. Your comfort is our priority, and we appreciate your understanding.

All of our homes have exterior security cameras for the safety and security of our guests. Exterior cameras are pointed at areas of ingress and egress from the home.
