Dragonfly wisdom: Spend time near the water and appreciate long summer days! Enjoy a true weekend by checking in on Friday and miss all the traffic. Relax in your own private secluded pool and hot tub. Decks on mid and top level offer plenty of seating in and out of the sun. Get your toes in the sand with a quick four minute walk to the beach.

Our home is conveniently located 3 miles from the 158 Wright Memorial bridge in Southern Shores, NC. Once you cross the sound you will be at the front door in 10 minutes. No wasting your vacation in traffic. Dragonfly is located on the ocean side of Route 12 north and a quick safe 4 minute walk to the uncrowded beaches. No major highway to cross. Very private lot shaded by live oaks to keep you cool on those hot sunny days. If you wish to head into town for shopping or dining Duck is located only a few miles north, a very nice bike ride. Bring your water toys. We have access to marinas a couple miles away to the sound for boating, paddle boarding, crabbing and fishing. WiFi is available so be sure to send all those great pictures and memories that you will be making at Dragonfly.

The top level has plenty of room for dining and entertaining, and a screened porch with a picnic table and gas grill and a master bedroom with deck access. The mid level has 4 bedrooms (two are masters with deck access). Guests will also have access to a community tennis court, playground and boat ramp.

Pets allowed. No smoking/vaping. Please refer to the Rental Agreement while reviewing Rules & Policies for pool opening/closing dates.

  • One of the northernmost towns along the coast in North Carolina, Duck is an idyllic town on the shores of the Currituck Sound. This shot was taken from the town's boardwalk while looking West over the sounds. It is advisable to visit the location in Winter as that is off season - so you can spend more time taking in the beauty of the North Carolina coastline and also sunsets are usually much more picturesque around the time owing to the cooler temperatures and lower amount of atmospheric haze. Plenty of things around Duck to see. Further north, there is the Currituck Lighthouse where you can climb the steps to the top of the lighthouse. North of Corolla, there is an area where you can drive along the coast on the sand - 4X4s a must. Here you can spot some Spanish Mustangs, horses out in the wild. If you're lucky, you can spot them running along the beach in the surf. I'd recommend taking a tour through the Corolla Wild Horse Fund - the money from the tours is used to help the wild horses in every which way possible and the staff are knowledgeable and friendly. Location was great. Two blocks walk to the beach

If I was planning to stay here, I would want an honest assessment of a previous renters stay. I say 2.5 stars overall. I think the things I mention can be/should be corrected. I don't know who rented before we arrived but when we arrived there were several areas of the house that smelled and are not to the quality I expected --the kitchen, the living room, master bedroom and second floor middle room. We did a LOT to attempt to alleviate the smells--moderately successful but shouldn't have been our job. Many of the areas of the house could use a deep deep deep cleaning. The location and the hot tub were great. The trash and recycling were NOT removed before we got there either, so had to wait several days for those smells to be gone also.
