Large annual family trip

Family vacation

Overall the house was amazing. Lots of room and the kitchen had everything you could ask for. The location is great and the view is top notch. The beds could be replaced not real comfortable amd some of the furniture is getting worn.

Great house on the beach

We stayed with 2 other families, 6 adults and 5 teens. The house had a kitchen with everything we needed to cook at home. The 2 dishwashers, 2 refrigerators, and ice maker were amazing. The beach was small and hard to walk on, so we spent more of our time at the pool and hot tub. Overall, we enjoyed our stay!

Vacation

The home was nice. It did need some fixing. The faucet in one of the bathrooms was leaking. One of the lamps in one of the bedrooms wasn’t working love the view I mean oh my goodness the view it was amazing. We are looking for a house to stay next year the same time we will be looking into this home. It was a beautiful home a wonderful stay and I thank you very much.

The location and home is awesome, however the living room furniture needs to be replaced or chair covers could be an option. The grout in some of the showers should be cleaner (some nasty looking spots) and some of the shower liners could be replaced. The pool and game room were well used and the kitchen was well stocked. Overall we enjoyed our stay and booked for next year.

The kitchen was very well equipped and the beds were comfortable. The private walk out to the beach made our days down by the water with two little ones extremely easy. The rental company was also very easy to work with. We had an issue with the pool heat a day after we got there and it was corrected within an hour and no hassle. If we make the trip down to the Outer Banks again, we will definitely use this company and look to stay at Castle in the Sand!

Boomer couples family reunion

Gorgeous house on the beach, with great kitchen (3 sinks! 2 dishwashers! 2 ovens + air fryer oven, microwave etc!), large dining space and multiple common areas provided space for our 12 older adults to gather. Plenty of bedrooms all with their own bathroom for privacy. Great location for OBX. Rental company is easy to deal with. Groceries etc nearby, plus all the tourist attractions you're looking for in the area. We were too early in the season for the pool, but there's a shower & toilet at pool level also. Elevator made bringing kitchen supplies up to upper level easy.

It rained and was cool a couple days during our week but we had fun in the game room and the heated pool and hot tub. I reported that a couple nails popped up and a board came loose on the deck and boardwalk. Also the garage door operator needed lubrication. Josh showed up within an hour and did a great job. We've booked for next year.

REVIEW OF THE HOUSEP

I like the 7 bedrooms with toilet on each room.But the vents were not cleaned Found white hairs like pets hair.I do not like the convection oven.We can not cook bigger portions for 14 people .We have to cook twice since the pots are small. The elevator is not user friendly.My daughter and her husband felt like the room they occupied was moldy that they got sick.The house needs to be check for molds.But I like the hot tub The location is perfect The water in the swimming pool is cold although I paid $500 for the pool to be heated.Otherwise our vacation was nice.The house accommodate us .The 2 tables were perfect for 14 people.

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: This is our second year in this wonderful home. The property is well-maintained and stocked with everything you could possible EVER need. The home is clean, the rooms spacious and comfortable. Loved the addition of the new Living Room Furniture. The extended (LONG) table was perfect for meals and for playing cards. The views from this home were spectacular (sunrise from the back deck and sunset from the front) Amazing! The theater room was wonderful, although the seats are well-worn, but they were comfortable. Only recommendation would be to update the bed linens to make the brighten the bedrooms a little.

The location was great however, the main road stays quite busy and be difficult to pull out at times. The overall vacation was perfect getting up every morning walking the beach and watching the beautiful sunrises. The house does need some updating like new fixtures, faucets and all the furniture was worn. Some of the beds in the rooms are due to be replaced. It wasn't overly clean upon arrival, and we wiped somethings down. We defiantly left it cleaner then it was on arrival. The only real issue was the built in oven was broken upon arrival and we didn't get any emails indicating this and considering it was Easter we found it quite difficult to pull together Easter dinner in 2 toaster ovens. Overall we enjoyed our stay and wished that it hadn't ended so soon. ThanksJason W

Castle in the Sand was a Dream

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: This home was Fantastic!! By far our favorite home rental in all the 12 years our group has been traveling together. Completely stocked kitchen with every gadget we could possibly need to prepare meals and cocktails. The home was well kept and clean. Linens and towels were supplied, and having the beds made up for us, was a nice touch. The only hiccup was us trying to figure out how to operate the Televisions. Our group was looking to watch a rival football game on Sunday, and we struggled with all the channels and streaming options. ONE CALL to the maintenance staff and they walked us through which buttons to push without making us feel foolish. THANK YOU!! If I had any suggestion for improvements, it would be to provide a brief ‘HOW-TO’ cheat sheet for the TVs. Otherwise, we were VERY satisfied with our stay, the house, the customer care provided by Beach Realty, and the Maintenance crew.

House needs updating and repairs

Excellent beach location, we had a great time, but the “owner” needs to step up. 1.The“owners” lawn care company hit a large stone while mowing the lawn and hit one of our cars causing a dent and paint damage. We immediately called the rental company and they said they would contact the “owner”. We have heard NOTHING back from the “owner”. 2. The house is not at all what the pictures show in the listing, it is very well “used”. Duct tape on the furniture, broken chairs, child gates that are broke and useless, the washing machine was broken and not working properly, electric outlet issues, lighting in the pool area where the switches were sparking and light bulbs were out. (We called the rental company and they did send someone out to take care of the electrical issues and address a few other minor problems quickly). The decks are extremely worn, watch out for slivers and nails. The railing to the beach deck was rotted and broken. 3.The bedding was well worn and did not have mattress covers. Some of the spreads were filthy and there was sand in, and on the bedding. We wondered if the “cleaning service” had actually changed the bedding. It seems as if they sprayed the entire house with disinfectant and that was about it. There was mold in many of the showers. Simple bleach can clean that up…. 4.Be aware that the house is on the main road, understand that’s there is a LOT of traffic. We heard NO street noise but had to be careful when pulling out of the driveway.

Castle in the Sand - Great Location - Needs a little TLC

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: We spent the last week at Castle in the Sand which was our second time renting this house. The first was last summer. We found a few things that we think you should be made aware of. When we walked in the first day everything smelled clean and appeared clean. Once we all got into bed however, the sheets on every bed had a sour, terrible smell and all beds needed the sheets washed and put back on which we did. This was a real disappointment and took up a lot of our time. Moving on to the towels. When we went to shower the same awful sour smell was in the towels and then we had to spend time washing those as well. Since the house sleeps 14 we thought that the kitchen would provide adequate silverware. Needless to say, the silverware drawer barely has enough for 11 people for one meal. In the living room, the furniture is significantly worn. There are many holes in the fabric on all the furniture and even duct tape trying to cover holes in one of the chairs. Also again, if the house sleeps 14 they need adequate furniture in the living room to seat everyone and there definitely is not enough. They are in desperate need of outdoor furniture. Both on the top deck and out by the pool. The exhaust fan in middle red bedroom doesn’t work at all. Also, the comforter is ripped and has holes in it. The ceiling fan in the master bedroom upstairs doesn’t work and the blinds in the bathroom broke. (I reported this through the app when we arrived). For the cost of a week in this home, the quality needs to be a little better and it needs a little tlc throughout. The size of this house and beachfront is great. We just thought you should be aware of these things.

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: Our family has been renting this home for the past 12 years. We had rented directly from the owner (Elizabeth) until she sold it several years ago. Since then, the new owner rents thru Beach Realty which has been great! Any issues have been fixed immediately. The layout is perfect and we love that all bedrooms have their own bathroom. I do have 1 request though. The bushes need to be trimmed back (for safety) entering the driveway from the main road. The home address is covered by the bushes as well.

Review of Castle In The Sand

Rating Details: The property manager was very helpful. The vacation rental was very clean. I was very happy with the location. I was more than satisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: This was our second stay at Castle in the Sand. The entire family loves it and the location! Our only slight dissatisfaction was that the master bathroom shower and one of the others, I can’t remember which, has mold throughout the grout (same as in 2019). Three cleaning people came but didn’t speak any English so I had to literally spray the bleach (or whatever it was in their spray bottle) onto the grout to show them what to do. I understand they are very busy on checkin/checkout day, but thought I’d give you a heads-up.

Beautiful views, easy beach access, lovely pool, and other amenities make this a great choice for your family’s vacation needs. However, the property could use a little makeover. Some of the furniture has been well loved and needs to be replaced.

Perfect vacation home on the beach!

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: Truly enjoyed a week in the lovely Castle in the Sand. Our family loved the space and the large picture windows overlooking the beach! Enough room to eat and have a game/puzzle table. Great theater room for watching movies and our daughter loved playing packman. The location is perfect for sunrise walks to the Kitty Hawk Pier. My favorite part of the trip! Beautiful large bedrooms, four with ocean views December is wonderful in the Outer Banks.

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: This home is great for a large group of people. We have a group of 11, the ensuite baths with every bedroom was ideal. The open concept kitchen, dining living room was expansive and not at any one time did this group feel on top of one another. Relaxing on the rockers, watching the dolphins cruise by and listening to the waves crash on the beach with your morning coffee was incredibly relaxing. If you're looking for the perfect sunrise, this location cannot be beat, as they are spectacular here. The heated pool and hot tub was clean, at the perfect temperatures and provided lots of after noon fun. The movie/game room provided lots of evening entertainment.Overall, this property provided great memories and I would highly recommend staying here. The only con, which did not affect this group at all, is that some of the furniture has been very well loved and the home could use a little TLC here and there, which can be expected from a very popular rental home. Nothing major.
