The Beach House is a very comfortable cottage that features two decks and a large screened porch. The light and sunny rooms and the added amenities of the community pool privileges and ocean access at Colony By The Sea Condominium complex make this a perfect location for the family. In only moments you can take the family on a stroll to visit one of the shops in Duck, be sitting on the beach, take a short drive north to see the Corolla wild horses, or head south to Jockey's Ridge State Park. From fishing to golfing on the Outer Banks, there is no limit to what you can do while on your family vacation

Cosa c’è nei dintorni?

  • One of the northernmost towns along the coast in North Carolina, Duck is an idyllic town on the shores of the Currituck Sound. This shot was taken from the town's boardwalk while looking West over the sounds. It is advisable to visit the location in Winter as that is off season - so you can spend more time taking in the beauty of the North Carolina coastline and also sunsets are usually much more picturesque around the time owing to the cooler temperatures and lower amount of atmospheric haze. Plenty of things around Duck to see. Further north, there is the Currituck Lighthouse where you can climb the steps to the top of the lighthouse. North of Corolla, there is an area where you can drive along the coast on the sand - 4X4s a must. Here you can spot some Spanish Mustangs, horses out in the wild. If you're lucky, you can spot them running along the beach in the surf. I'd recommend taking a tour through the Corolla Wild Horse Fund - the money from the tours is used to help the wild horses in every which way possible and the staff are knowledgeable and friendly. Good Area - Poor Property Management Company

The beach house was very nice in a great area close to all of the key area in Duck. The house was as described and worked nicely for our family; however, the check-in process and communication leading up to the trip was far from ideal. The property management company does all of their communication outside of VRBO, which I felt like some communication felt like a scam. They also did not make any of the beds as all linens were left in a box outside the property. We did have an issue arise while staying at the house and the company was quick to fix the issue, but outside of that I would avoid a property owned by this company.

Cozy cottage but needs some improvements

We booked this cottage because my sisters family was staying on the next street and they had a pool. We understood it was small but it lacked alot of kitchen necessities. A nice knife set and corningware for leftovers would have been nice. A couple nice teflon pots also since the ss ones were pretty beat up. There were three coffee makers and we had to search to find one that worked and the components. The house also swayed alot especially when you were sitting or trying to sleep. The screened in room is so nice but again filthy furniture and flooring. A little bit of modernizing this place and it would be adorable. We still had a blast and the shopping was so close which made it nice.

Adequate but could use improvement

While my family had an overall enjoyable trip, there were some things that would need to be improved before we would consider staying at this property again. The house needs some general maintenance. All the porches are in very rough shape and you couldn't trust walking on them without shoes as there were a lot of splintered boards and nails popped up. the HVAC system has one thermostat in the upstairs that controls the whole house so the bedrooms on the lower level were like meat lockers just to keep the main level at a comfortable temperature. All the appliances were in working order and clean which was nice. The pots/pans and dishes were an array of yard sale pieces and preparing meals in house was a challenge. Like stated in the beginning, we ultimately had a nice time but won't be booking this property again unless improvements are noted. There are a lot of nicer locations in the direct neighborhood that we would consider first.

Spiders and bugs everywhere

This house sways and rocks horribly. The front door is not aligned and insects are constantly getting in. So many spider webs and spiders it was hard to enjoy our stay. Carpet smell like a zoo and makes the whole house smell terrible. Owners or investors check on your property the house needs a deep cleaning. The lower deck has nails coming up out of the deck. A lot of the wood slots are a tripping hazard. The lock on the front door has a large gap around it and let a gecko in the house. Cob webs on the dining room light fixtures are now home decor it is very bad. WiFi was included butno one from property management bothered to check the Wifi was working. It was a holiday weekend we had to trouble shoot the internet problem with the cable company on Tuesday after 1.5 hours of unhooking, plugging up, turning off and on, clicking and flicking it was determined a tech needed to come to the house. We were told someone had to be there from 8-5 to let the tech in to handle the situation. The problem was outside and he never had to enter the house. The TV remote control needed batteries.

Vacation with little kids

Checking in and out: the realty company did not email me any details. I had to reach out and ask what the instructions were. Condition of house: how was a little run down. The balcony screen door was broken. The bedroom door handle was broken. The house felt like it swayed anytime someone walked. Not sure if that is normal for that type of house. The kitchen was stocked with kitchen tools. The bathrooms were not in the best condition. Proximity to beach: the access to the beach was close and easy. We had to drive to the condos and park in the parking lot to make it accessible with kids. House is located right at duck. Great restaurants all around. Sound is right across the street. At night you can hear the ocean from the house. Great house if you plan on spending most of your time outdoors.
