Loved this hotel! It's a little off the main street so it's nice and quiet at night. The hotel also offers rides up and down the hill to get to the main walking street. Everything at the hotel was wonderful. Room was amazing, view was breathtaking, couldn't have asked for anything more! One tip if you're looking to do a diving course, it's significantly cheaper elsewhere on the island through other diving schools.

Great comfort for a diving trip

We really enjoyed our stay at the Tarna. Decent breakfast spread without being overly fancy. The free shuttle to and from town (and to and from the ferry) was greatly appreciated. The onsite dive school was excellent and we had great dives with them. The fact that their equipment is in great condition and they have their own traning pool at the hotel were big pluses. We had a room with its own pool, which we really enjoyed - But be aware that these rooms are all facing onto the construction site next door. I estimate that it will be ongoing for at least another year (we stayed in April 2025). To be fair it wasn't that intrusive, but I think potential guests should know about it.

We stayed here for a couple nights to experience all Koh Tao had to offer. The steep inclines throughout the hotel's walkways were tough for my gf to navigate and the hotel is far away from the walking streets. However, the shuttle services, consieege and private pools more than made up for it. Our room was huge as well.

Lovely view but poor pool & bathroom issue

PROS: Staying in the villa was a very cool experience and the views were amazing. The bed was also very comfortable and the duvet was great. In addition, the staff were attentive and they would pick us up from our villa to reception in a golf cart for free (steep hill but could easily be walked). CONS: Although we liked the villa, one significant downside was that there wasn’t a proper door on the bathroom (or a roof) meaning that you could hear everything going on in the bathroom in the bedroom. For that reason, it would put me off staying again. We booked a sea view villa so curious to see whether this issue affects the other property types. We had also expected the pool to be much bigger but it’s really quite small. Although there are two public pools, one is used exclusively for diving and there isn’t much space to lounge around the swimming pool. Finally, it is also worth noting that the shuttles to town only run 4 times a day (8:00 / 10:00 / 16:00 / 18:00) and back 5 times day (10:00 / 11:00 / 16:00 / 18:00 / 21:00). Out of hours service is 50 baht per person per journey.

We booked another 4 days at this resort because we liked it so much. The staff were so thoughtful and helpful. They went out of their way to make every guest a beautiful Kratong for us to take to the pier to release into the waves. So beautiful and so thoughtful! Loi Kratong Day On the full moon of the twelfth lunar month, in November, this festival celebrates the release of misfortune. ‘Loi Kratong’ means to float a ‘Kratong’, an object decorated like a lotus bloom which is laid on the water to be carried away, thereby symbolically taking away any bad luck. Respect is also paid to the spirit of the waters. The festival, with live stage performances, is held in the evening at the main pier in Mae Haad. Jonathon, the Divemaster was so personable and friendly. We were not diving this trip but he took the time to carefully explain about different spots to snorkel and how to access them. I believe he would be an excellent Divemaster as he is so encouraging and positive. You will like him. The pool at the resort is specially designed to teach diving. Try it!! I would give the staff full marks! The location is ideal as they offer free shuttle service. We enjoyed the walk up and down !

Der kostenlose Shuttle vom Pier zum Hotel war gut, die Unterkunft vorher aber zu erreichen und eine Bestätigung zubekommen hat mehrere Anläufe gebraucht und erst einen halben Tag vorher geklappt.. das geht definitiv besser. Die Anlage ist weitestgehend in einen guten Zustand. (Jedenfalls unsere Villa und alles bis zum Eingang was wir gesehen haben) Das Personal grüßt immer freundlich und ist sehr zuvorkommend. Vom Hotel bis zum Strand sind es nur ein paar Gehminuten Bergab und es befinden sich einige sehr gute Restaurants in der Nähe. Der Frühstücksraum ist nicht klimatisiert aber das war vollkommen in Ordnung. Das inkl. Frühstück war auch eines der besseren welches wir in Thailand hatten. In der Villa hat uns gestört, dass es zum Bad keinen Vorhang oder ähnliches gab. Auch gab es keinerlei haken um Handtücher aufzuhängen. Positiv zu erwähnen ist auch, dass das Housekeeping ausversehen eines unserer eigenen Handtücher bei der täglichen Reinigung mitgenommen hat und wir anstandslos ein neues Ersatz Handtuch erhalten haben. Der Poolbereich vom Hotel ist relativ klein. Es gibt dort nur sechs liegen und der größere der beiden Pools wird täglich von der Tauchschule genutzt. Es waren jedoch immer liegen frei als wir dort waren. Man kann auch direkt am Hotel Roller für 250 Baht am Tag ausleihen. Alles im allem waren wir zufrieden mit dem Aufenthalt.

WARNING - BAD HOTEL

WARNING!!!! We booked this accommodation with the belief of a nice magical hotel with great service that could make a week on Koh Tao fantastic. We booked the room with access to the private pool. The hotel is located a bit up on Koh Tao, which is not a problem and something we really knew. What permeates the entire hotel is a lack of service and caring for its guests. The hotel is not clean, run-down, and lacks attention to detail. The breakfast feels mediocre and the furnishings and surfaces are very basic and not well thought out. The staff is kind but lacks the authority or ability to help and resolve situations. We chose to leave the hotel after 4 days when we found another accommodation due to the island being fully booked. We agreed with the hotel that if they found a new guest for our room, we would get a refund for the remaining nights. Since Koh Tao was fully booked, this should not have been a problem. However, the hotel came up with various excuses for why they couldn't assist us and no compensation was offered. In the end, there are much better hotels on this island. A big warning for this one.

Best hotel on Koh Tao

Fantastic hotel with the nicest staff! We had a villa hillside with a view of the ocean and big balcony. Everything about the accommodation was perfect, really clean and up to date, looked even better than the pictures, really comfortable bed and a big bathroom. Watching the sunset from the balcony was one of the highlights! The food in the restaurant was good and the staff were all so nice and always tried to give the best service possible. Sometimes you could tell that the waiters maybe lacked a bit of experience, however it never bothered us since the were so serviceminded. The hotel being a bit up in the mountain was never a problem either. When renting a scooter (which is recommended no matter where on the island you’re staying) it is a 2 minute ride to the beach with a big parking by the reception. If you do not rent a scooter the hotel offers free rides to and from the beach specific times during the day/night. Outside of this schedule you can pay 50 baht/person (1,5 USD) to go either way and this service is offered 24/7. We also walked both up and down to the beach a few times which was not that bad, without a doubt worth it for that view! Also saw some reviews complaining about rooms being up a hill from the reception. It is literally 2 minute walk to the furthest room and anyone moderately active will have no problem with that, again worth it for the view. If this would be a problem the hotel for free gives you a ride up/down Best hotel in koh tao!

Ottima scelta

Ottima struttura leggermente fuori mano ma per chi si munisce di scooter arriva esattamente in 2’ a sairee. La nostra camera era speldida con una vista mozzafiato, arredata molto elegantemente ad esclusione del bagno che non avendo la porta da direttamente sul corridoio. Salvo questo piccolo inconveniente di privacy, l’intera situazione è veramente degna di nota ed il sevizio grandioso

Bell’albergo moderno, pulito, praticamente nuovo sopra il paesino di sairee beach. Camere molto spaziose dotate di tutto, colazione soddisfacente con centrifugati freschi tutte le mattine. Camere distribuite su più livelli quindi con scale da fare e un po’ in salita. Per scendere in spiaggia ci vogliono 5/10 minuti a piedi, una ventina al ritorno perché la strada è in salita. C’è Un servizio navetta ogni ora per scendere a Sairee beach con risalita alle 16 e alle 21.30. Belle le zone piscina e la terrazza con bar

La pace

Abbiamo soggiornato in questo resort ad agosto, la Tailandia ci è entrata nel cuore forse anche grazie all'ottima accoglienza ricevuta in questa struttura, inizialmente sembrava il resort più lontano dell'isola, già il giorno seguente noleggiando un motorino e potendo girovagare per tutta l'isola abbiamo imparato ad apprezzare la vicinanza e la comodità del Tarna, vicinissimo al centro ma lontano dalla confusione , nella zona ideale di Ko tao. Unica pecca l'orario di chiusura della colazione , le 10 del mattino è decisamente presto per noi italiani sofferenti del fuso orario! Belle piscine, bel panorama, ottima pulizia e ottimo servizio! Spero di tornarci presto

Molto bello...ma si può ancora migliorare!

Hotel moderno con stanze ampie e pulite. Servirebbe però maggior spazio per i vestiti. A seconda "dell'intimità" degli occupanti il fatto di non avere la porta del bagno (si vede e si sente tutto) potrebbe essere un problema. Diverse piscine tutte molto belle. Ottima vista sia dalla camera che dal ristorante della colazione. Questa è prevalentemente salata (si potrebbe migliorare quella dolce). Il personale si è dimostrato gentile e disponibile, ma anche qui potrebbe lavorare un pochino (esiste il General Manager?!). Ottimo che vengono a prenderti e riportarti in hotel dal molo. In definitiva: un bell'hotel che ha ancora un ulteriore margine di miglioramento!

Ottima posizione

L'hotel si trova in ottima posizione perché è praticamente attaccato all'Airport Link che in circa 30 minuti ti porta all'aeroporto senza dover cambiare. La struttura è nuova e pulita, ma per essere un 4 stelle è carente in alcuni aspetti (faccio il paragone con tutti gli altri hotel dove sono stata durante il mio viaggio in Thailandia): la camera è molto piccola (non avevo nemmeno lo spazio per le valigie), l'armadio è piccolo, il letto è davvero scomodo (troppo morbido) e la colazione è stata la peggiore di tutta la mia vacanza in quanto c'era davvero pochissima varietà di cibo. Il personale è molto gentile e parla un buon inglese; consiglio comunque questo hotel per la posizione, perché è nuovo e pulito e per il prezzo... spero quindi che riescano a migliorare almeno la colazione!
