I booked this stay after reading many positive reviews, so my expectations were higher than what we experienced.
Pros: The property is surrounded by beautiful nature. The trails to the river are lovely, the small river itself is very nice, and birds come right up to the window in the morning. The room feels very immersed in nature. The owner was friendly and accommodating, allowing us to arrive early and store our luggage until the room was ready.
Cons: Although the hotel is located in a natural/jungle setting, the room needs better maintenance and cleaning. The electrical outlets were very dirty, the hand soap bottle was dirty, and both the ceiling fan and air vent mesh were very dusty. The bed sheets had stains, and several lights did not work, including the balcony lights, which made arriving at night difficult.
The mattress was quite hard. Our room (#6) was the farthest from the main area and required going down steep steps, which may be challenging for guests with knee issues. At night, a flashlight or phone light is needed since common-area lights are turned off.
The room has an electric shower, which is common in Latin America, but due to the overall lack of maintenance, the visible wiring near the water raised safety concerns. The shower floor had mold. The room is not level, and the windows are not sealed, so food attracts ants. The pool appeared to have a similar level of maintenance. Other larger rooms on the property may offer a better experience.
