## Emplacement
A marked identity, a renowned seaside resort… Le Barcarès has everything to seduce. Surrounded by a pond and the sea, this strip of land was abandoned until the 17th century. It was then that a fishing village settled there and a few decades later, Le Barcarès had a major fishing port and even shipyards where the famous Catalan boat was built. In the 1960s, property developers took over the coast and made Barcarès a famous seaside resort with the symbol of Lydia, stranded on its beaches. This liner, now converted into a museum, nightclub and restaurant, is the fourth oldest liner in the world. The districts all have a special character and you will like to immerse yourself in the atmosphere of each. From the old village to the Grand Plage, from the Lido to the Port, the atmospheres change and give a unique character to Barcarès.
