Great host - Unsafe neighborhood. The maps program directed us to wrong address (Street vs. Avenue). Naila promptly responded for help. While unloading, the various people walking around the area did not give us friendly impressions. In the midst of unloading, we witnessed what we suspected to be a drug deal near us. Weird, but let's give the benefit of the doubt. Stairs: I cannot express how steep these stairs are. If you have large luggage, it is not going up the stairs. There are no rails (per the images) and none of my family (2 adults and 2 older teens) felt comfortable climbing the stairs. It felt more like climbing a ladder. Given it was summer and there was a heat wave, I messaged our host for potential fans. Naila responded quickly that she could bring some over a little later in the evening. Yay! While checking out the rooms and discussing dinner in the living room, we observed at least a dozen more drug deals in front of the property. None of us felt safe leaving the apartment to go out to the local restaurants and this activity made me also feel insecure about leaving my rental car on the street. We decided to leave and packed the car. During load in, we witnessed a drug deal done right in front of us. The dealer made a negative facial expression to my daughter that made her feel threatened. Naila is a very friendly host and ensured me no one has ever had an issue. But, what we observed, the neighborhood safety needs to be considered. Denied full refund.
