Hi Claire I'm glad you enjoyed your stay. I'm unaware of the damp smell, however the location of the shower room and our late arrival might explain that. I an assure you that if I thought there was a prevailing damp aroma, I would spare no expense to remove it. The corridors do get a lot of careless guest traffic and, although frequently repainted, do look a little jaded. The next time we are quiet, I'll give them another lick. Thanks for your compliments

Thanks for that. We have an en suite room, but only 1. Anyone can book it. It costs a little extra but when it's gone, it's gone. A deposit box for keys is a bizarre request as I presume you want somewhere to leave them when you check out. On the bed works for us

Sorry about the desk - we have one room with a desk on it available upon request but very few people ask for desks. I guess we look "nothing special" from the outside because we look just like a house - i guess that was what the original architect had in mind in 1895 - which is why we are called a Guest House and not a Hotel. Thanks for your feedback Anthony. Sorry about the building but it will be standing long after I am gone, so that's a bonus. Also, to compensate for all the bricks about the place, we have 2 high speed internet feeds so at least you can keep one foot in the 21st century while you are at Abinger
