The Neighborhood:
The apartment is located near the main places of interest to visit in Lisbon, 10 minutes drive from Marques de Pombal and 5 minutes walk from Bairro Alto that in 2013 celebrated 500 years, neighborhood of writers,artists and students, the most known and frequented in Lisbon for diversity of environments, street, bars, restaurants and fado houses.
Close to the apartment, you will find Largo Dr. António de Sousa Macedo, a state figure linked to the restoration of Portugal's independence - rumored to have been the 1st journalist so classified in the country! The story goes that this is where part of the plan for the coup of independence in 1640 was prepared. A piece oh Portugal's history!
The apartment is located in a quiet street where you can sleep comfortably without noise. The neighborhood is quiet at night.
Getting Around:
The Electrico 28, passes very close to the apartment and allows you to take an original tour in the company of residents through some of the best known and traditional neighborhoods of Lisbon.
You can also visit the ELEVATOR of SANTA JUSTA, built by Gustave Eiffel, the famous Carmo Convent and the fantastic viewpoint of São Pedro de Alcântara which are only 600 meters away.
Board at the ROSSIO station, only 800 meters away, where you can move around and enjoy the charms of the town of Sintra.
The CHIADO, one of the chicest, most cosmopolitan and busy areas of the city where the Grémio Literário and the National Theater of São Carlos (ópera) are located - 300 m
The Santos area, another neighborhood full of nightlife with restaurants - such as the well-known Casa de Fados o "Sr. Vinho", bars (XAFARIX - LIVE MUSIC and BARRACA) and culture with the National Museum of Ancient Art about 1 km away.
CAIS DO SODRÉ place where you can take a walk to the other side of the river and visit excellent restaurants with breathtaking views over Lisbon. Alternatively you can board the train and ride through the beautiful villages and beaches to the well-known town of Cascais. Also in Cais do Sodré is TOKYO, a charismatic entertainment venue with live music from Tuesday through Saturday.
Don't forget to visit the mythical Praça do Comércio and the Baixa Pombalina. You can enjoy some time at Mercado da Ribeira, where you can find the Time Out Market in Lisbon - food hall and in front of the market, passing the train line, next to the river in CAIS 1, the B LEZA - dance club, the best live music bar where you will find people from all over the world.
Not forgetting the typical Elevador da Bica, on the calçada do combro, where the renowned "Bica do Sapato" restaurant is located. Try here the true regional flavors.
