We stayed five nights in February at the Sonesta Redondo Beach & Marina in an Ocean View double queen room and had an amazing experience. Our balcony overlooked the marina and ocean, and since we visited during breeding season, we could actually hear humpback whales at night — such a rare and unforgettable bonus!
The hotel is beautiful, clean, and very well maintained. It offers a bar and restaurant, fitness center, paid laundry room, gift shop, plus a heated outdoor pool and hot tub. The pool area looked fairly basic but was clean and felt safe. Every staff member we encountered was friendly, welcoming, and accommodating. The service truly felt premium — you get what you pay for.
Parking is not included ($40/night self-park or $43/night valet). For the small price difference, valet was an easy choice and made everything seamless.
The location is fantastic — just a short walk to the marina and beach. We loved exploring Redondo Beach and even rented pedal boats, which was affordable and so much fun. It was the perfect home base for exploring the LA coastline while staying conveniently close to the airport.
A few minor notes: the bathroom was slightly dated (but clean!), evenings can be lively due to events and outdoor dining (it was ok for us but beware light/early sleepers), and our 5th-floor room had quite a long walk from the elevator — worth it for the view, but something to consider if mobility is a concern.
Highly recommend — we would absolutely stay again!
