The general atmosphere was incredibly negative. I did not see a smile on the face of any employee. It was very apparent that staff did not care about any of the guests and were reporting to work just to fulfill their duties.
There are 6 restaurants with staggered schedules meaning that only 4 were open at any given time. Food quality was poor to fair (the buffet was decent), and food service was exceptionally slow in most cases and included servers with careless attitudes and a downright disregard for guest satisfaction. Many were simply rude. Again, no smiles whatsoever.
Rules were either incredibly strict or not enforced at all. No flexibility or variability. For instance, we requested a late checkout and were sharply informed that “we do not permit late checkouts on Thursdays.” No explanation, no empathy, no mention of assisting to hold bags, find a cab, etc. Just an abrupt “click” to end the telephone conversation. All poolside chairs were claimed by guests by 6am with zero enforcement of any towel removal policy if unoccupied for a given amount of time. This made it exceptionally challenging for my family of five to enjoy the pool or the makeshift “beach” at all. The towel process was also quite frustrating. When we asked for towels, we were denied as we did not have “towel cards.” However, despite asking for clarity, no one supplied an explanation regarding this process and/or where/how to obtain towel cards.
