This location cannot be matched. The apartment is close to everything inside the charming, historic walled city.
Be prepared to climb three flights of stairs, but then be prepared for the reward of a spectacular view of Lucca's famous Guinigi Tower, a small plaza with a clock tower, the Bell tower of San Martino Cathedral, & the red tile roofs, balconies & flower boxes of the neighborhood. To describe the views as "stunning" is not overstated. Lucca is a city of ancient, narrow streets & this apartment's third floor location gives it magnificent natural light & fresh breezes. We had breakfast every morning on our balcony.
The host-Francesco-has restored the apartment to modern standards while retaining so many important cultural & period components in every room to place you "in Tuscany". Although no longer functional, the piano in the sitting room played on occasion by "Lucca's own" composer Giacomo Puccini & the antique copper water heater are especially remarkable.
Francesco was a valuable and responsive resource for information on parking, restaurants, bike rental & more even before we arrived. He texted once every morning to be sure there was nothing we needed.
The apartment was immaculate when we arrived. The 4 bedrooms and 3 full bathrooms were perfect for our family of 7 adults-it easily could accommodate children or two families traveling together.
My family has traveled to Lucca over and over. Be assured: stay here & you'll experience the best of Lucca.
