My first bad review ever — We made a reservation through Expedia. We showed up to no one there. No answer on the phone number listed. We contacted Expedia. They could not get in touch with the owners at any number, published or private to Expedia. It took over an hour on the phone with Expedia but they got us another room in another town. Thanks to Expedia we ended up at a much better place. This place is run down looking and old. I would not recommend it.

Perfect place to disconnect! I could hear the river from my room. Lots of riverside picnic tables , several riverside benches, and a bridge crossing the river allowed me to unwind to the sound of flowing water. The indoor pool had toys for the kids and seating areas for the adults. Continental breakfast was included. Management was super nice and very accommodating. They even let me leave my rental car onsite while I went backpacking for three days - Thanks Ben!. I'm sure I'll be back. FYI there is very limited cell service (Verizon only) so be prepared to really disconnect.

This hotel is not in Lyon. It is about 15 miles away in the same postal zip code area. Still it was a very quiet, clean and peaceful. It had a decent breakfast. Most definitely worth the drive. We wished we could have gotten there earlier to enjoy the river. Maybe next time.

Terrible Customer Service
First off, we did not actually get to stay at Riverside Lodge so this review is purely in regards to their (lack of) customer service. I booked a room for a Saturday night so that my husband and I could do a nearby hike on Sunday. About two weeks before our trip something came up and changed our plans. For the next two weeks I called almost every day, multiple times a day trying to change our reservation to the following weekend. No one EVER picked up the phone even during the listed check-in hours. The voicemail box was ALWAYS full so I was unable to leave a message. Because the hotel was non-refundable through hotels.com I could not change my reservation using the hotels.com website. I finally emailed the hotel and they told me I had to make changes with hotels.com. I called hotels.com customer service and they were unable to change anything without authorization from the hotel.. whom they were also unable to reach. I emailed the hotel again, explained the situation, and asked if we could please change our reservation or cancel. No response. The day we were supposed to check in they called me and asked if I was coming. I explained the situation and there was no offer of a refund or to reschedule. So we wasted money on this place and didn't get to stay there. It may be a great place, but don't expect to reach anyone. Ever.

New owners are trying to revive it. $180+ for a room with no A/C, a queen bed and a shower built for a 6 year old(roof of the building minimized available space). Scenery was great. Amenities need work

Amazing Lodge
We stayed here one night just to be close to Lake Isabel so I could take some morning photos. It was a great location and a very amazing place to stay. Wish we could have spent more time there. Even saw a bull moose up close at Long Lake on my hike back to Brainard. The whole area is incredible!

Great history behind the property. Will be a good place to stay eventually when everything gets done. Nothing mentioned that the pool and spa are empty and being renovated, there is no a/c in the rooms. Biggest gripe is the communication. I was originally going to show up past the check in time. I let them know in the comments section when booking. The last email I received before my ling drive there just said to call 24 hrs in advance if I was going to check in late. I ended up getting there early so I did not need to call 24 hrs in advance. Then after driving 8 hrs to get there I checked my email and had one saying they had made a late night check in packet for me at the desk and to call their phone number to get a code to get in the lobby door. No big deal except they would never answer the phone. This was about 1:00 in the afternoon, so knowing it was before their 3:00 check in time i decided to just go to estes park and come back after 3:00. When arriving back around 3:45 the place was still a ghost town and nobody at the desk and doors all locked up. Tried to call once again and no answer. At this point was getting worried and trying to figure out if i needed to book another place somewhere else since i couldnt get anyone to answer. Found a woman across the street from Riverside and asked her if she knew where any employees were. She said she had their number also and tried to call several times and could not get ahold of them either. She had to leave but said she....

This property is amazing in that the main lodge was built just before WWII. There are numerous cabins and many rooms in the main lodge. It has recently changed ownership and the new owners have wonderful plans for the property.

First I booked this on the assumption that everything listed under the amenities will be there when I check in including free wifi. This was not the case. The room didn't have an iron, hair dryer, coffee maker, proper bathroom and there was absolutely no Wifi available anywhere on the property. The manager didn't really understand the concept of Wireless Internet. Then after a lot of back and forth and the fact that everything was sold out in the area we ended up staying the night and the hotel provided monetary compensation for the lack of promised amenities. Then we try to go to bed and every time someone in any floor of the hotel moves...the entire place starts creaking. There was so much noise all night we didn't get any sleep at all. This property is in a beautiful area and it has a nice fireplace and livingroom area with breakfast room. The morning meal staff were very friendly and helpful. The price is pretty good for the area. If it wasn't for the fact that I was lied to and that the room we were giving felt like a basement in a really really old home...I might have enjoyed our stay just because of the location of the place. Ohhh not to forget...the place was pretty hard to find and there is no sign on the actual property door marking its location. We had to keep asking around until we found someone.
