Enjoy the town’s breweries, parks, and seasonal festivals. For outdoor adventurers, Navitat Canopy Adventures in Barnardsville is only 25 minutes from the cabin, offering high-elevation ziplining by day, sunset, or under the stars. Or head 30 minutes to Carolina Hemlocks Recreation Area for swimming, tubing, and fishing along a beautiful stretch of mountain river.
An hour south lies Mount Mitchell, the tallest peak east of the Mississippi, with panoramic views and extensive hiking trails throughout its State Park. The Burnsville region also boasts other natural wonders, such as Roaring Fork Creek Falls—a short, family-friendly hike to a 100-foot cascade—and the scenic Blue Ridge Pinnacle & Rocky Knob trail, a moderate hike through flower-filled forests to sweeping mountain vistas.
When winter rolls in, you’re just 15 minutes from Hatley Pointe Ski Resort (formerly Wolf Ridge), which offers both skiing and dining at its on-site restaurant, Smoke and Timber.
A visit to this region wouldn’t be complete without a trip to Asheville, just a 30-minute drive from the cabin. Dubbed the "Paris of the South," Asheville is known for its vibrant River Arts District, the beautiful North Carolina Arboretum, and the famous Biltmore Estate. The city also features a wide array of award-winning restaurants, cafes, and breweries for every taste.

The cabin was very well setup, especially all the Christmas decorations and tree. It was very clean, the kitchen had all the utensils needed to cook and grill and a generous amount of fire wood was provided. We enjoyed our time here!

Very nice cabin on a gorgeous property. We really wanted to get away and this was a perfect spot. It's not very clear in this listing but there is another identical cabin quite close to this one. Thankfully, there wasn't anyone staying there while we were. That property is also on VRBO and you can check its availability to see if it will be empty or you can rent it as well for bigger groups. Even if it was occupied this would still be a wonderful, private cabin. There's a steep entry on a gravel road but it was no problem for anyone, even in wet conditions. Snow could cause some problems for sedans or no 4WD.The porch was lovely with rocking chairs and a picnic table, there was plenty of firewood for the fire pit, and the hot tub was great.

Lucky enough to be there for the first snow of the season that lasted about 24 hours, absolutely beautiful. Cabin was perfect as were all the amenities - hot tub, gas stove, fireplace and breathtaking views. Sad to see some of the damage from Hurricane Helene, but after meeting so many amazing locals we know they will eventually recover. Booking was easy and host very responsive when we had an questions. We'll be back.

Cubs Den Cabin is probably the best VRBO place we have stayed in (and we have stayed in a lot). The house was spotless upon arrival, was decorated for fall and was comfortable and homey. Highlights include the gas fire place, hot tub, fire pit, bear claw bath tub and the fantastic view from the porch. The kitchen is a chef's dream. Everything you needed was there and was high quality. The owners brought wood and we had a chance to talk with them briefly. They are very friendly and welcoming. We highly recommend Cubs Den!

We could not have chosen a more perfect spot for our anniversary trip. The cabin was perfection! It was so cozy, but spacious with every amenity you could possibly need. The kitchen was stocked with all needed utensils and small appliances (even a popcorn popper!) and everything was brand new and organized. There were classic board games and movies and a cozy fireplace area to relax. The covered porch was gorgeous for our morning coffee, even in the winter. The bedrooms and beds were so comfortable with plenty of closet and dresser space to unpack and make it truly feel like home (better even). The twin master suites were brilliant so that no one has to fight over which room is best, although it was just the two of us this time. The private hot tub and fire pit were our favorite part and abundant fire wood was even provided! Maintenance even came to drain and clean the hot tub during our stay and communication was on point! I wish we could live here! The location itself is remote so every place is at least a 20-30 minute drive away or more. That’s the only thing we didn’t love. However, we made it a point to enjoy the house itself as much as possible so that was the favorite part of our trip and I love the fact that it was so private and silent. We can’t wait to go back. My standards for vacation rentals have forever been raised after our stay at cub’s den. They set the bar super high!
