“We were attending a gig a Ludlow Castle, most accommodation was booked or expensive at Ludlow for the night of the gig so we chose to stop at Stokestay Hotel because there was a train station close that we could catch there and back. The Stokesay staff were friendly and helpful, the room was clean and tidy, breakfast was excellent and bar prices good so we would not hesitate to stop there again.”

“Pet-friendly BUT you need to know that the guesthouse is just a small part of a large caravan and camping site. There’s also a field of horses. Guesthouse clients with dogs are only allowed in rooms accessible from the outside; we weren’t allowed inside the building. So my room opened directly onto the access road, with all the mud and noise that comes from all the traffic, walkers, and horses that passed in front of the door and small window. The breakfast box is such a great idea, allowing you to eat in or take it with you if you are heading for an early start. “A very well presented and convenient hotel for Hay on Wye and the surrounding areas. Staff were friendly and welcoming. The room itself was comfortable and finished to a high standard. Would be perfect for couples or solo travellers wanting to explore the local area. Will definitely be back.”

“A wonderful stay in the middle of the countryside! Colleen and Griz were perfect, friendly, down to earth hosts and their recommendation for a local pub for food was lovely! It was also great to meet their dogs who were so keen to have a bit of fuss! Breakfast was stunning and freshly cooked. The room had a really comfortable bed and everything was clean and welcoming. We'd highly recommend Ty Mawr to anyone wanting a stay in the lovely West Wales countryside.”
