ACCESSIBILITY Unfortunately, while the the suite is walker-friendly it is NOT wheelchair-friendly. The interior doorways and bathroom are too narrow.

LISTING ACCESS We are located less than a minute`s drive from the Nanaimo Parkway (Highway 19), giving you quick and easy access to north, south and central Nanaimo.
Guest parking is in the carport and driveway for easy access to the private suite entrance within the carport. The entire suite is private and available for guests.
The patio off the side of the carport is for guests to enjoy, although you may see one of us watering the plants out there.
Children and dogs are welcome to play in the unfenced front yard.
We are happy to provide a tour of our backyard garden, so please ask us if you are interested in seeing what we have growing back there. The backyard is our private space, so please don`t enter without permission.
GUEST/HOST INTERACTION We love to meet our guests and also respect your privacy. We may pop down when you first arrive just to welcome you and answer any questions you might have. We live upstairs and you can message us any questions or requests which we will strive to accommodate.
You will likely see us out in the backyard, working in the garden during the spring/summer/fall. Depending on the weather and season, we are happy to offer a tour of our backyard urban garden and greenhouse.
We do access the laundry room in the carport, so you may see us in there on occasion.
NEIGHBOURHOOD OVERVIEW We are a short walk (and even shorter drive) to Westwood Lake and the forests surrounding Mount Benson, perfect for hiking, swimming, kayaking, paddle-boarding and mountain biking.
If you are looking for a great workout... walk up Calder Road to the very top (can you do it in less than 8 minutes?). From there, you`ll see an entry point to the Westwood Lake trail system!
We are a 2 minute walk to a bowling alley and game arcade, pub, liquor store and convenience store (corner of Calder & Jinglepot).
In 5 minutes, you can be on the Nanaimo Parkway Trail for walking, running or biking.
Within a 30 minute walk you can find: Buttertubs Marsh Bird Sanctuary, Vancouver Island University, Nanaimo Aquatic Centre, Nanaimo Track and Field Club, Nanaimo Skating Rink, Bowen Park and Country Grocer.
In 45 minutes, you can walk to downtown Nanaimo, the Nanaimo Regional General Hospital and the waterfront.
TRANSIT NEARBY We are a two minute walk to the local bus stop, in front of the nearby pub, where you can catch the #5 bus. In less than 10 minutes, you can be at VIU. In 20 minutes, you’ll be downtown.
Or, just across the Parkway, on Jingle Pot - a 10 min walk – or catch the #5 bus and transfer), you can catch the #15 or #25 and zoom up to the north end of Nanaimo.
Many trails are within walking distance (Westwood Lake, Morrell Sanctuary, Nanaimo Parkway Trail, Buttertubs Marsh). For more ideas, check our Info Station in the suite, behind the entrance door, or ask us for more info.
CITY BYLAWS AND GUEST LIMITS The Province of British Columbia and the City of Nanaimo regulate short term rentals. Our suite is an authorized secondary suite in our Primary Residence. We have a municipal short term rental business license (#5030519). The City of Nanaimo limits us to a maximum of 4 adult guests (over the age of 18) and we can host 6 guests in total (e.g. 4 adults and 2 children). We are registered with the provincial Short Term Rental Registry.
STAYS LONGER THAN 28 DAYS Please keep our home clean and tidy during your stay. Additional cleaning fees may apply if the place is left excessively dirty, untidy or disorganized. If you would like us to perform a mid-stay cleaning, we can provide that at a cost of $50/cleaning. Thank you for your cooperation.
RECORDING DEVICES Please note: a video surveillance camera continuously monitors the exterior of our home. The camera is located above the suite entrance. The video and audio recordings from this device remain private and may be used for liability reasons and to monitor occupancy and other policies noted here. It does not infringe upon the expectation of privacy in this public area. To disable or obscure the camera is prohibited and may result in eviction without refund. 1. No Smoking or Vaping inside suite (smoking in the carport is OK). 2. Pets - up to 2 medium dogs only (<60 lbs or 27 kg). Dogs must be added to the reservation. Dogs not allowed on the furniture or on the beds. Absolutely no other types of pets. 3.
