The story behind Joey's House

Our son, Joey, was born with Trisomy 18 (Edwards Syndrome), a condition medical textbooks once described as incompatible with life. We decided early on that Joey would set the course of his life, not the textbooks, and we became fierce advocates for him and for kids like him. Today Joey is thriving, though his life comes with medical complexities, frequent doctor visits, and the occasional hospital stay. We've spent a lot of time at our local children's hospital, and we know how draining hospital life can be. We created Joey's House as a sanctuary where our family and other families can recharge and reset during those times.

Tucked into the charming Historic Waverly Place neighborhood, Joey's House puts you right between three of Nashville's favorite neighborhoods: 12 South, Melrose, and Wedgewood-Houston. Zanies Comedy Club is just around the corner, and The Smiling Elephant, a beloved local Thai spot, is a short walk down 8th Avenue. Head east to Wedgewood-Houston for brunch and wine at Sally's Stay Awhile or pizza and darts at The Wedge. Just a quick ride west, you'll find the boutiques, murals, and restaurants of 12 South, including Frothy Monkey, Postino, Embers Ski Lodge, and Playdate Funbar. For a classic neighborhood pub, M.L. Rose in Melrose is a guest favorite.

✧ Joey's House sleeps up to 10 guests. The three bedrooms provide beds for 7 guests (including a twin rollaway), with a queen sofa bed in the living room and an air mattress accommodating up to 3 additional guests.

✧ This home features three floors of interior living space, with the rooftop deck located on the 4th floor. There are multiple flights of stairs throughout the home. The main living area and kitchen are located on the second floor, so guests should be comfortable navigating stairs during their stay.

✧ The garage houses a private gym with an infrared sauna and free weights, along with parking for one vehicle no larger than a minivan. Please park carefully to avoid the equipment.
