I booked and paid half the price to confirm the reservation for the Sonder Hotel (The William Apartments Midtown) from July 22 to Aug 06.
On July 22, we were informed that our hotel reservation had been cancelled, without explanation, but they offered us an opportunity to stay at another Sonder hotel (Chambers Hotel Central Park South),
When we arrived at the Chamber Hotel on July 22, we were charged half of the price and then the other half at the same time:
I was told that William Apartments would refund my initial deposit within a week. But I had not received my refund to the end of my 15 days holiday.
We went to William Apartment Midtown to request a refund. and I was told that we would receive a refund within a few days.
After returning to Australia, I noticed some transactions on my bank statement from the Sonder Hotel:
August 3, 2025: Sonder.com San Francisco 2394.4 USD $3684.99 AUD
August 7, 2025: Sonder.com 16173000956 2394.4 USD 129.71 AUD -$3835.81
August 10, 2025: Sonder.com San Francisco 1196.70 USD
$1831.50 AUD
I should receive a refund for my first payment 0f $1196.70 USD (about $1922.37 AUD) but now have only received $1680.68AUD (from above transactions: $3684.99-$3835.81+$1831.50= $1680.68).
why did they make three transactions to refund me? They make a mistake, right?
Since I lost money due to their cancellation of my reservation and the mistake when they made a refund to me, shouldn't they compensate me?
