What a nightmare
I was encouraged by VRBO to write a review of this property who's host they kindly described as "difficult." No check in details were provided until i asked the day before check in. I have traveled on average three times a year with VRBO since 2016 and at check in i made note of some damage to ensure that the host and i were on the same page. I was not asking for anything more than acknowledgement that i was not responsible.
The host four times encouraged me to leave and they would refund me. I had nowhere else to go, but finally submitted. Hours later the host rescinded the offer to refund. Among the contents of that message "I'm not sure what you were expecting at this price point" Now I'm homeless, they ran me out, I begged to stay and I'm being told to take my refund up with VRBO.
Some notes on the actual property: the pictures are all taken with a fish eye lens, the whole apartment is probably about 450 square feet. The "outdoor oasis" is cheap furniture that is also very worn. MUCH more wear and tear than I'd expect for a rental that's been listed for less than a year. There was mention of house rules I assumed initially was an oversight on my part but after thorough review of my emails and messages from vrbo the only house rules I found were regarding number of guests, check in time and no smoking or events.
At this price point i highly recommend the Residence Inn East Rutherford, a much nicer neighborhood.
