There listing has said laundry and there was no where to do laundry, it had rained a few days before and the patio was flooded so we were not able to use it half of the visit but then it was fixed for us.

Unenjoyable stay. Inaccurate description is misleading on the most important issues.There’s an unrelated upstairs tenant that uses the same “free parking space” that guests are told to use. Clearly there is no communication with this tenant and the host to work with VRBO guests. So immediately at check in there was nowhere to park. Work trucks needing to park at the construction site next door means there is nothing in the whole street. I even messaged before I booked to check about parking as I know it’s a major issue in the area and was told parking was in front of garage doors (no mention of the other tenant). “Garage an option” was offered but the only thing that would fit in that space would be a golf cart. So no solution.There is a house being built literally a step from the front door. This should be the first thing detailed in the description! The March 2026 update on that is that it’s currently a dirt lot so major earthworks going on. House construction not even started yet so only getting worse! Expect loud construction and house shaking starting at 7am sharp on the daily.The WiFi is complete garbage and non existent. I‘ve had better reception in a canyon in a national park. But that’s fine because you won’t be able to work with all the noise going on outside your window anyway.The photos show both bedrooms with a ceiling fan but only 1 worked so coupled with no a/c it was too hot at night. “Substantially renovated” is being generous.

Quick trip to California

We only spent two nights but it was perfect for what we needed. It was pleasant sitting out on the deck. The beds and pillows were really comfortable! Close to the beach, easy two block walk. Having the canal out back was very nice too. We’d definitely stay there again if we have the opportunity.For those not used to the parking in the area it can be a little daunting but manageable.

Overall it was a great experience. Only issue was we wanted to have a later checkout instead of 10am and it’s not available for this property even if we wanted to pay. Other than that, awesome time here.

Comfortable, but…

Everything was awesome, but a couple things to mention to improve amenities-We have stayed at this property before, and always love it. The only issue we had this time is that, though the intentions were good, we had new linens, including towels, throughout. The towels still had stickers on them and smelled like newly manufactured chemicals. They did not absorb water, so we had to take them to our college kid’s dorm to wash prior to using. In addition, the bedding was all polyester, so very uncomfortable, and “slippery”- the sheets and bedding kept sliding off throughout the night.

Great place!

We loved the cute little cottage and the location. It was very clean and comfortable for six of us to stay in. The only downside, they were having a heat wave and there is no AC so it was a little warm.

Some good and some not so good

Let’s start with the good: The home’s location is a short walk to the beach, is close to shopping and restaurants, many of which have online ordering and takeout which is perfect for social distancing. The space is good for up to 4 adults. The deck is huge. We loved the ease of the check-in and check-out process and how easy it was to call when we had questions and a plumbing issue. Fairly clean and free of dust. The bad: The carpets are visibly dirty. The walls and ceilings have cracks and are in need of repair. The furnishing need to be updated as the couches are cracked and sagging. There is no regular cable tv, just Netflix.

Great location, okay house, little parking

Booking, entry and exit were easy. Kitchen had essentials. Bedding and towels were clean. Flooring and furniture were less than impressive but functional. Shower didn’t drain well. Patio was a nice bonus. Nearby beach, market, and restaurants along with the reasonable per night rate earned this property 4 stars.

Cute old beach house nice location on the canal

This property was convenient and worked out well for us. The dutch door and back patio were fun! As others have mentioned, this property could use a few updates, some stronger floor fans, blackout blinds in the bedroom, etc.

The property and location are great!

A little bit misleading with when we would get the code for the key. The advertisement said a week before and then I called and they said 24 hours before. It would have been nice to know that it would be the day before instead of thinking I would get it the week before. Long wait times when calling.

Great value!

Being on the water was SO relaxing. Kitchen had all the equipment we needed. Few spices, only salt, pepper, and one other, so if you plan to cook often you might consider bringing some along. The king-size bed was indeed comfortable, neither my spouse nor I had any complaints, which is saying something since at home we sleep on a sleep number bed with numbers about 40 apart -- this bed was somehow firm enough for me but soft enough for him to both sleep well. Yes, the furnishings are outdated and scratched up, as others noted, but then we didn't need to worry about accidentally leaving a mark on pristine furniture, so IMO a plus for families with kids. The blinds in the bedroom blocked enough of the light from the neighbor, leaving the room only somewhat brighter than if it had a nightlight, so this also wasn't an issue for us. The marked parking spot was small, so with the free upgrade we got on a rental car, the car was about a foot longer than the spot, and we did get complaints from the upstairs neighbor when it was too far forward and from a neighbor across the street when it was too far back. After the complaints we made sure it was only a few inches off in either direction, and got no more complaints. There is no central heat, and the space heater for the living room / dining room / kitchen area was inadequate. However, I texted the property manager, and we got an older space heater from the upstairs neighbor almost immediately, then a brand new unit from the property manager a few hours later. Great service. All in all, no complaints.
