Escape to a cabin where nature and design breathe as one. The Cabin at Bear River is more than a place to stay — it’s a retreat where thoughtful design brings calm, clarity, and deep rest.
Lose track of time as you move between warmth and stillness: unwind in the private sauna, then sink into the hot tub beneath a sky full of stars. Share a glass of wine by the glow of the Nordic fireplace, or wake slowly as soft light spills through floor-to-ceiling windows, framing the forest like living art. Here, every season tells its own story, and every moment feels like it belongs to you.
Your luxury mountain hideaway in the western Maine woods is calling.
At The Cabin at Bear River, you’ll find a Japandi-inspired retreat set on 3.5 private acres, just minutes from Sunday River, Bethel, and Grafton Notch. Here, luxury meets nature — perfect for couples, families, or close friends ready to relax, reconnect, and recharge. An off-peak NACS EV charger is available on-site for guest use when traveling long distances (please note we do not provide vehicle-specific converters).
From the moment you step inside, you’ll be wrapped in warmth. Radiant heated floors welcome your feet, limewashed walls set a calming tone, and floor-to-ceiling windows bring the evergreens indoors. Sink into the plush king-size bed, cue up your favorite playlist on the Marshall speaker, or curl up by the Nordic fireplace as snow drifts quietly past the glass.
Your fully stocked kitchen is made for slow mornings and cozy meals, with high-end touches like a Moccamaster coffee maker, KitchenAid stand mixer, and fondue pot. After a day of skiing, hiking, or river walks, indulge in a spa-like wind-down: let the sauna melt away the day, then rinse off in the rainfall shower and wrap yourself in warmth with the heated towel bar and bidet with a warm seat. Hosting extra guests? The queen pull-out sofa offers memory foam comfort in the living room.
Step outside to a 252 sq. ft. deck — nearly half the size of the cabin — where mornings begin with coffee and evenings stretch long under the stars. Move between the sauna and the six-person hot tub, then gather around the firepit beneath string lights, surrounded by Adirondack chairs and hanging egg chairs.
Please note: some outdoor amenities like the fire pit and dining table may not be available in winter due to snow access. The hot tub is available year-round.
Wander your private wooded trail for a peaceful 5–10 minute walk to the Bear River. Breathe in crisp Maine air, listen to the water flow, and enjoy a quiet picnic at the secluded riverside table.
Whether you’re chasing powder at Sunday River, exploring Grafton Notch, or simply slowing down with heat, stillness, and nature, this is your place to unwind — every season, every visit.
We are pet friendly, but we kindly ask that all pets are kept off of furniture and kenneled when left on property alone. We do charge a $150 pet fee that is automatically added when you add a pet to your booking. Please make sure to do this during booking to prevent unexpected fees post-booking.

Other things to note
While the cabin is completely private and thoughtfully tucked into the woods, it is not a remote, deep-in-the-wilderness retreat where you won’t hear any outside sounds or be entirely isolated. We like to share this upfront so expectations are perfectly aligned before booking.
Although the cabin is not technically secluded, it is intentionally positioned and designed to maximize privacy and a sense of seclusion. With surrounding woods, careful placement on the property, and no direct neighboring cabins (though we have neighbors), most guests feel pleasantly tucked away and removed from the outside world during their stay.
The cabin sits just off Route 26, providing easy, year-round access, especially helpful in winter. Because of this, you may hear some light road noise during the day, particularly when windows are open or while in the front yard, and you may occasionally see cars pass by from the front or side yard (primarily in the winter when the trees are without leaves). Even so, the setting remains peaceful, and nights are typically very quiet once daytime traffic subsides.
---
We do not have blinds on any windows, with the exception of the bathroom. This is a thoughtful design choice meant to fully immerse you in nature and preserve uninterrupted views of the surrounding woods.
Because of this, guests should be comfortable with an open, unobstructed connection to the outdoors, including in the bedroom. If having blinds or window coverings is essential for your comfort, this cabin may not be the right fit for your stay.
The cabin is the only home on the property and sits on 3.5 private acres, offering complete privacy despite the lack of window coverings. In winter, our plow service may clear the deck after snowstorms; however, we request that they do not arrive before 11:00 AM to maintain your privacy and ensure a peaceful morning experience.
---
We are pet friendly, but we kindly ask that all pets are kept off of furniture and kenneled when left on property alone. We do charge a pet fee that is automatically added when you add a pet to your booking. Please make sure to do this during booking to prevent unexpected fees post-booking.
---
While the cabin is designed for two, we happily welcome up to four guests. Please note that indoor dining is set up for two, with plenty of outdoor seating for four during spring, summer, and fall.
---
Snow removal: In winter, while our plow service works hard to keep the driveway clear, we can’t guarantee it will be done first thing in the morning. A shovel is provided if you need to head out before the plow arrives. If a big storm is expected, we recommend parking closer to the top of the driveway if you need to leave before a plow gets there.
---
Please note we can never guarantee an amenity (such as the hot tub or sauna) is available during your stay. We do not issue refunds for amenities that are not working properly for factors beyond our control.
