We are disappointed to hear that you didn't fully enjoy your stay. We wish you all the best in finding a hotel that will meet your requirements next time. A few points/comments for those reading this review: - Yes we are a Bed & Breakfast (hence our name Explorer House Bed & Breakfast) and as such it is our home - as is all Bed & Breakfasts in Niagara-on-the-Lake. - The outdoor spa (hot-tub), which they did not use, seats 6 persons and is 7ft by 7ft. - Guest space is on the 2nd floor - not 2 fights up but 1 with a landing half way up. As a private home we do not have an elevator. - For the comfort of all guests, guest space is for registered guests only. - With regards to breakfast, everything is made fresh starting at 7:30am for a 9am breakfast service. The guest originally advised that they were leaving at 3am for an early flight, we offered them a breakfast to go package but they declined. They then emailed us at 3:22am and advised "we didn't get back to the property until 2am, we decided to change our flight to later in the day. No need to worry about breakfast." So we took them at their word and did not make breakfast for them. Given the request for breakfast came at 10:05am and check-out is at 10:30 there was no time to make a breakfast which we would have been starting from scratch. Never mind the fact that we were already assisting other guests whom where getting ready to depart.

When you arrived at 10am, and not shortly after 9am as you indicate, we were likewise embarrassed for our other guests, as we were in the middle of assisting them with their plans for the day. Unfortunately those other guests had to wait while we got you coffee - you were offered juice and tea or coffee, as when we ask you if you would like to sit down you advised that you just wanted to take your drinks up to your room. The other guests were not having breakfast as you indicate but had already finished their full 3 course breakfast and the table had already been cleared. Yes, breakfast is served at 9am and we do accommodate those that may come down a few minutes late, but you arrived a full hour after breakfast was served and not a few minutes after 9am. The food that we had prepared for you had by 10am already been tossed into the garbage. We are unsure how you did not know breakfast was served at 9am given you were advised prior to your stay that breakfast is at 9am, and again on check-in you were advised that: “breakfast is served at 9am, please come down for 9 as we serve all guests together at 9 for a full 3 course breakfast”. On a final note, I did not intend to be rude but apparently you interpreted my surprise at you showing up at 10am for breakfast as being rude, for that I apologize. At 10am I thought you were showing up to check-out, given check-out is at 10:30am, and not to have breakfast.
