House of Zen - Walk to the beach, Huge fenced back yard, Outdoor shower!

The House of Zen is a charming beach cottage located about 5 minutes from the Oak Island's Beaches. Relax by the outdoor fire pit in a FENCED backyard that is great for your children and pets! This is a true private oasis and the beach is an easy drive, walk, or bike ride.

We have bikes, beach chairs, and a buggy to make the trip down to the beach easier or to visit the close by parks and restaurants. The detached building, Zen Den, has a bedroom set up and an office for those who need a remote workplace for a longer stay!

The main house has two bedrooms and the two bathrooms. One room is set up as a kids room with two sets of twin bunk beds while the other is the primary bedroom that has a King size bed.

The detached building is the Zen Den! It has a Queen sized bed, TV, and an office for those who need some extra space or a place to work while visiting! The home is set up with keypad locks that are synced up so that you can have quick access back and forth from the detached room and main house and be secure.

The backyard is fenced in and has access to the shed. In the shed you will find bikes, beach chairs, ladder golf, bocci ball and a buggy for getting all the gear to the beach! A pump and some hardware for the bikes is in there as well just in case.

Pet Fee:
The pet fee covers up to 2 pets! Please make sure your reservation is updated properly. If you are traveling with more than 2 pets, please reach out - sometimes we can accommodate an additional pet on a case-by-case basis for an additional fee. Thanks!

Great place to bring your Dogs. Ours enjoyed the large, fenced in yard and the beach which was only a 10 minute walk away. Max was a very helpful host and very responsive to any questioned, etc.

The house was perfect for our family. Set up as pictured. Clean, comfy and cozy. The backyard is a bonus with the lights and the fire pit. The dogs enjoyed the fenced in yard almost as much as we did. We even were able to walk to the beach from the house. Close to the shops and restaurants. Will plan to come back here! This was our 2nd stay at the Zen and it was even better than the for time. The neighborhood is so quiet and cozy and also a short distance to the beach. Maxwell is a great host and the amenities are excellent. All kinds of beach stuff there already so you don't have to struggle on the beach. All items are listed on the website. The intracoastal is right behind you and a great place for dogs and friends. I always suggest golf carts on Oak Island for convenience and cheap parking. The house is in the perfect place for shopping and beach access. Lovely and thanks to Maxwell and all included for the amazing annual vacation!

We had a great time. The place was clean. Having the beach cart, boogie boards, chairs was excellent, and saved us space for packing. The house is minutes from the beach, but I would recommend driving and not walking due to the amount of stuff you bring with you. The outdoor shower is nice, but could use some irrigation. Kitchen was decently stocked, but bring your own condiments (ketchup, mustard). Overall, we had a great stay.

We had an amazing trip to oak island thanks to max and letting us stay at their beautiful beach home! We brought our dog for his first ever beach trip and he loved every minute of it, we made lots of friends and made lots of great memories, this home was beautiful and spacious, the master bedroom cute and comfortable, and the kitchen and the backyard were my favorite spots in the house! Will definitely book again for a friends trip ! Not a far walk to the beach so the location was perfect:)

Great location, home, and style!

We spent the month of March in Oak Island. This house was great for us and our dog. The back yard is big and fully fenced. There are plenty of chairs, a picknick table and charcoal grill for outdoor chilling. The owners also provide use of lawn games, bikes, beach chairs, and beach cart. The exterior bedroom/building was perfect for my husband to use as an office. The main home has 2 well appointed bedrooms, 2 nice bathrooms, and cute decor. The home was very well stocked to make any stay great! There were books, games, and a well stocked kitchen (plenty of dinner and cookware). The area is walkable to the beach although we prefer a quick drive. We love being close to Southport, and an hr to Wilmington. There's so much to do! Great restaurants and lot's of local music. Be sure to get some peel and eat shrimp and crab cakes! Would definitely reccomend this home and would stay again!

Quiet and comfortable.

Property is as advertised. Pretty long walk to beach, but easy drive access to public parking. Bring toiletries and any condiments for cooking such as salt, pepper, etc. Only coffee option is a nice Keurig machine.

This is a wonderful place and a wonderful host. We happened to end up being in the "1000 yr flood"! The host contacted us immediately that morning to check on things and our situation, and we're glad that things weren't as bad as they could have been. Thank you for that!! The island got hit hard, but Zen Den turned out to be the safest place to be. . Wonderful beach access and tourist needs. Also wonderful for our old pup and great amenities. Hopefully, we'll get to see the Den again! Thank you so much for a great anniversary trip!! Also clean Thankco #8.

Just 2 adults and 2 pups- plenty of room. Pups loved the big backyard! Kitchen had everything we needed, great location, easy walk/drive to beach access and restaurants, great communication with host! Would stay again.
