Located on the recently renourished east end of the island.
Ocean Isle Beach is a south facing barrier island with 7 miles of beach on the Atlantic Ocean, located 12 miles south of the NC/SC border. Ocean Isle Beach is a much quieter and less crowded island than areas like Myrtle Beach, etc. The beach is spectacular and is very wide and clean with a nice gentle slope. The island has a fishing pier, arcade, surf shops, restaurants, museum, ice cream parlor, mini golf course, bicycle, jet ski, kayak, boat and golf cart rentals. The backside of the island has quiet protected water great for kayaking.

Great House for our family

This house was perfect for our family. It's not fancy but has lots of space and most of the bedrooms are large. It's a huge advantage that each bedroom has its own bathroom. We had a few things that needed to be addressed after we arrived, but Cliff was extremely prompt and took care of the issues. Our family loved this house and we are hopeful to rent it again next year. We all agreed it was the best house--for us--yet!

Wonderful Stay!

Our family just returned from staying at Bray's Rays. It was perfect for us! We loved the space and the location. The house had everything we needed for a wonderful family vacation. The host did an excellent job communicating with us. We will definitely return!

Thanksgiving destination

We thiroughly enjoyed our stay! The property was perfect layout for our family with plenty of space and plenty of comfortable beds. The kitchen was well stocked with anything and everything needed to prepare a meal. I have rented many houses through the years at OIB and this was by far the best layout. Cliff, the host, was also readily available for any concerns or questions. He was truly an asset. Have it on my bucket list to visit this place again.

Restful

Property manager was quick to respond, helpful, gave information promptly. The view was fantastic, parking was great. The home is an older home, but was layed out well, functional for multiple familys, and had nice bedrooms. The kitchen is very well stocked for cooking in! We will rent again.

The host was always prompt and accurate in all communication. The house is dated and needs major remodeling. House was clean on the surface but needed deep cleaning. Flooring in lower level uneven and questionable stability. Minimal landscaping done. Mold on shower curtain in bathroom. Issues with cockroaches and AC but as I said, the host was prompt with addressing theses issues. The house delivered what it promised: lots of space and ocean front and well stocked with what is needed for a vacation.

Long overdue Beach Vacation

Lovely beach front home. Very roomy and comfortable. A bedroom and bathroom for every couple. A very well stocked kitchen, could use a little updating. We really enjoyed the beach location, never crowded as between two public beach accesses. The week went by too fast.

Bray's Rays...not so bright

The property has not been kept up. Kithen drawer fronts fell off in our hands, kitchen shelving fell out of the cupboards, electrical issues throughout the interior and exterior. Light bulbs left burned out and not replaced. Holes in window frames allowed bugs and rainwater into the home. Cockroaches and ants throughtout the house. Burner not working on stove, no space for groceries to be put. Dresser drawers broken and repairs attempted with duct tape. Beach accessories and charcol grill are rusted and unusable. Rusted nails protruding from deck and boardwalk to the beach. Hazardous to small children and to the rest of us. This property should be de-listed from VRBO until repairs or a complete rebuild is done. A complete waste of our time and money!

Beach Week

First time we tried taking our adult children and spouses along with grandkids to the beach for an entire week. It was better than expected. The house more than accommodated everyone. Easy access to the beach made the trek with a 5 year old and a 2 year old that much easier. Some issues popped up that the manager and home owner jumped on quickly. OIB is one of the best beaches for young kids and family’s Can’t wait to do it again!

Great House

House was fantastic with lots of room and games. Kitchen had everything one would need to make a full Thanksgiving dinner for nine people, including pots/pans/crock pots/roasters/dinner ware. Each bedroom has its own bathroom and water pressure/heat handled everyone. Only opportunity for improvement would be making the upstairs bathrooms a little bigger.

Great house

The home was very clean and well equipped for a long stay. The beach access was good and location perfect. The property manager was helpful and quick to respond to questions. The drier took a long time to dry even an average load of clothing. Be prepared to wash and dry towels well in advance of leaving. I would rent this home again.

Family beach vacation

Our extended family has been going to the beach for most of my life. We love staying beach front, cooking family meals, playing games and spending time together. The location and layout of this home was perfect for that. We also appreciated the use of the kayaks and bikes - that was an added bonus.

Pre-retirement college girlfriends' gathering

First and foremost, many thanks to Cliff, property manager, for his promptness and great customer service! The week at the beach was just what we gals needed to escape our respective realities. Plenty of room to be together and catch up. The only thing we all discussed was the overgrown two trees and bushes below the deck. They blocked part of the ocean view and somewhat inhibited the breezes from getting to us on the deck. We also envisioned a pool for those who could not make it down to the beach due to walking issues of their own. Maybe the owners could consider installing one some time . . . . ? Delightful cottage and we will be returning next year for sure! Thanks again, Cliff for everything!

Great getaway

There was plenty of room for our family to gather all together or in small groups and room for multiple board games and puzzles. Kitchen was well stocked. Being ocean front was a treat. We will be back.

very comfortable house

Nicely appointed ocean front house. Plenty of room in the living areas. Kitchen well stocked. Very nice bedroom arrangement with individual bathrooms (2 of the bathrooms have additional access from common area). Some condition issues: fairly severe water damage in the ceiling of one of the bedrooms;. one of the kitchen drawers fell apart when we opened it. On the whole, however, highly recommended. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

Excellent space for family beach trip

This house has a fantastic location with plenty of bedrooms and bathrooms. We had ourselves, three adult children and their spouses, and two grandchildren with us, without feeling crowded. Checking in and out was a breeze, and the property manager was very responsive. We hope to stay here again!

Excellent for families with young kids

Beach rental reviews all depend on the renters expectations. This rental property exceeded our expectations and we plan to set up our rental for next year soon. Our expectation was a house with okay sized rooms and a layout that was a bit better than all bedrooms on the same floor, no entertainment items (pool, game room etc) besides TVs (as is shown in pics and description). The rental is brand spanking new, but is extremely functional. The abundance of bathrooms is really nice as is the two rooms with balconies on the top floor. What exceeded our expectations is how much stuff is included in the rental- it really feels like you're stepping into a house that a person lives in year round (every type of cooking accessory is available, tons of dishes and utensils etc). We brought a bunch of cooking items not knowing and next year were leaving it all behind (except spices and seasonings). Additionally the house had kayaks available, a couple beach chairs, and a couple bodyboards (but those are deterioating). We used the beach chairs but didn't mess with the other stuff (again given the age of our kids we weren't adventuring far away). The rooms are quite large, we had at one point 6 kids (ages: 9, 8, 8, 7, 5, 4) in a bedroom upstairs (two to a bed and two on the floor) and they did great and it was removed from the living area that the adults could play games chat without the noise bothering the kids. The place has pull out dividers to block off two nooks (that contain sleeper couches), we didn't require use of these beds but really liked that a "private" space could be quickly created. The acoustics of the rental is great, I felt the rooms were very quiet. The access to the beach is spectacular and you are located far enough away from the "general access" point that beach goers don't wonder down to claim space in front of the rental. We did set up our umbrellas around 9am everyday to "claim" the space in front of the rental but I am not sure this was necessary (but we were up). The back deck and the boardwalk to the ocean are aged, I'd recommend you wear sandals to avoid splinters (my 9yr old found this out the hard way). But overall really great and the owner (Cliff) was easy to reach and kept us in the loop as our date approached. Highly recommend ....as long as you don't take our planned week ;)
