    The Country Cottage
It was born reusing the stones from the old country cottage which had been reduced to a ruin. The inside spaces were reorganized to assure privacy and comfort. It is old style but redone in a modern way. We carefully selected the chestnut beams and the terra cotta ceiling tiles, and we followed the reconstruction day-by-day. The furnishings incorporate old family furniture, repainted, and which to our surprice, fit perfectly in the various rooms. The Murano glass ceiling fixtures and lamps come from an outdoor antique fair in Arezzo ( which is every first Sunday of the month… a good opportunity for a day trip). The bed in the Blue Room is an original liberty style from 1900 with inlays of mother of pearl; cleaned, repainted and found in the basement of our grandparent’s home in Abruzzo. The ceramic tiles in the bathrooms are from Vietri, and we went personally to chose them to match the colors in the bedrooms: Yellow, Green and Blue.
    About us:
    ...

My husband, daughter in-law, husband and two granddaughters stayed at Casale Eredita for 7 lovely days. Giacinta (and her family were wonderful). On our first day there Giacinta made reservations for us so that we could join her family and friends to a yearly fund raiser in a local farm field, that allowed us to taste the different flavors of the area, enjoy the band and the kids found some international friends to play with. It was a fun evening, so much so that we took part in it the following night. Giacinta was eager to please, helped us with directions when needed and encouraged us to help her with her English skills, as she also helped us with our lack of Italian. The pool was a highlight as the days were very warm while we were there (June/July). The grounds were lovely and the house was immaculately clean and cute and quaint. We had Giacinta cook us an authentic Italian meal (complete with tiramisu) and a bottle of wine! It was delish!!! We would highly recommend anyone to stay at Casale Eredita!!! Thank you again Giacinta (and family), we enjoyed meeting you and staying at your lovely home. Larry & Judy Friesen from USA July 2016

Casale Eredita Cottage will be for me and my family favourite place for holiday in Italy. The house and the garden are amazing, in perfect condition. We are honoured to met such a nice people, any opportunity to visit this amazing place worth it. Thanks to you Giacinta and to your family. Dicono di noi About us
Lynn from Atlanta Georgia USA May / June 2014

My family and I spent 5 weeks in May and June of this year at the Casale, 5 amazing wonderful weeks. The location, Orte, is just 45 minutes from Rome by train and an hour to two hours by car or train to just about anywhere in Umbria or Tuscany. The house was ideal for us, three spacious bedrooms and three full bathroom, and a lovely pool right outside our door. No AC needed as the house, lovingly designed and decorated by our hosts, Giacinta and Giampiero, is constructed of thick stone. I can think of nothing that the house failed to provide us.
Orte is in the Tiber River valley, so we were surrounded by organic farms, and no noise (except for the distant roar of the train between Rome and Florence). The original town, atop a small mountain, provides wonderful views of the valley, and the new small town provides such excellent fresh produce, a grocery store and an ATM at the bank. Orte is a definite pass through town as one can get to the motorway within minutes and be off to Bomarzo (not to be missed if you have children), Assisi, Orvieto, waterfalls, and so much else. A car is a necessity, of course, but Italian drivers can be survived.
I have saved the fabulous Giacinta for last. She devoted herself to us wholeheartedly. She and her husband met us at the train the night we arrived in Orte from Rome; she had a meal waiting for us at the house (a divine deep-dish “pie” and a fruit tart, both of which we had numerous times during our stay and I miss terribly as I write this review). Giacinta took us to the ticket office to be sure we got the right tickets for the days we needed to use the train, made sure the renting of a car went smoothly, introduced us to her special butcher and baker shops, and, quite simply, went so very far to make our stay with her as perfect as she could possibly manage. She even named her wonderful pie the “Atlanta pie” after our hometown since we liked it so much. My 5 year old granddaughter was in heaven because Giacinta had kittens for her to play with. On our last Sunday there, Giacinta and her husband took us to Rome for a look at what she calls “my Roma” and showed us some special places that we would never have found on our own; she made sure I got to stand on the old Appian Way.
I cannot recommend her house any more highly. A trip I had hoped for years to take with my family was as ideal as it could be, in large part because of Giacinta and her Casale Eredita! I hope so much to return there!

Stuart and Family from Great Britain

We are a family of six from Christchurch, England and stayed for two weeks in April, 2014.

The hospitality shown from Giacinta was first class and nothing was too much trouble. She is warm and very friendly and made us feel at home. She was very helpful rearranging her bedrooms to accommodate our requirements and provided a delicious welcome pasta meal on the evening of our arrival so we didn't have to cook.

The accommodation is well appointed and tastefully decorated in the local style and Giacinta and her husband have done an excellent job converting the old barn into a comfortable holiday let. All the usual amenities are present and there is a well stocked kitchen. Our children especially appreciated Sky t.v. and wifi access! One added bonus was the log burner which was useful on the one or two chilly evenings we had.

The gardens are well kept and were beginning to bloom during our stay. They must be spectacular in the summer. There is a large patio area to sit out and make the most of the beautiful weather sipping Prosecco.

The villa is centrally located in Italy a short drive (15mins) from the hilltop town of Orte. Orte has a large train station with direct trains to Rome, Naples, Florence etc. Car parking at the station is just 1.50 Euros/day. We caught the train to Rome a couple of times using the B.I.R.G. pass (12 Euros return including Metro and buses in Rome) - 40 minute trip. We also caught the train to Florence. Day trips to Rome, Pisa, Pompeii, Vesuvius, Florence, Asissi, along with many local towns all possible by car. Giacinta has lots of information on these and many more places.

We would highly recommend this villa and believe it represents excellent value for money. Many thanks Giacinta for a wonderful holiday. Hope to be back!

Great location to see a lot of Italy. Giacinta welcomed us with home-made dinner and tiramisu and plenty of enthusiasm. The house is lovely, clean and has all requirements. The pool is great as well. We stayed 4 nights, visited Rome (only 45 minutes by train). We would definitely recommend staying at Casale Eredita and we will be back in the future!

My family of 5 stayed in this beautiful country villa for two week last June 2011. The place has everything you need to feel at home . It was very clean; we had three bedrooms with three baths. In particular I loved the kitchen where I found all the necessary utensils. You can live there all year!! Everything had a special taste of peace and beauty. The large pool was only for us , the water was fantastic and has been marvellous to use the solarium all around it. In the garden there were plants and flowers everywhere, the grass was very green and well cared for. There were two beautiful oaks and it was very nice read on the shade of the trees. The villa itself was amazing and the landscape that surrounds it was truly breathtaking. We visited Rome for two times ( Rome is reachable in 1 hour by train), and many cities in Umbria ( Perugia, Spoleto, Assisi, Orvieto), we have seen Bolsena Lake, Tuscania, Viterbo and more.... We loved staying here and will definitely be returning again.. A special thanks to Giacinta and to her wonderful welcome dinner!

Great vacation!

After June 2008, we spend our second vacation in June-July 2012 here, each time two weeks and we recommend this location very warmly. Casale Eredita is a beautiful house, with a big pool and huge cultivated garden. All rooms are nice, very clean and completely equipped. Perfect for quiet vacation near Roma (45 min with a train). The Owner family is very hospitable, stay in background, but help every time in any question. It is a really insider tip location. We will come again, promised! Semplicemente stupendo

Grazie ancora e a presto

Warmest welcome at beautiful cottage

This is truly THE place to take a break from everyday's hassle, lay back and relax, take a stroll through the last warm autumn afternoons, and feel at home the minute you arrive! The house has been renovated recently and has everything you expect: a pool just large enough to swim in, a kitchen, classic furniture with a distinct local feeling, a porch to sit and eat on, and most of all a caring housekeeper family in the background, just lovely! Try at least one or two of their homemade dinners, ordered on site!

Entspannen - Erholen - Entdecken

Nahverkehrsmitteln in Rom ca. 9 Euro pro Person). We thoroughly enjoyed our 2 weeks stay at Casale Eredita. The serenity and comforts of this beautifully restored country house made it a great place to come home and relax after a day of exploring. The grounds are well kept, the pool & deck are clean & inviting, the villa is spotless and well equipped. The location is perfect for exploring Southern Tuscany & Umbria by car. With easy access to Rome, Naples etc. on the frequent trains that depart from the Orte Scalo train station. Lots of parking is available at the train station for 1 Euro per day! Giacinta and family are wonderful hosts. They were always willing & available to help when needed. Many thanks for your kindness :) We will definitely refer this property to our friends and family.

a beautiful house

We had the pleasure to spend our holiday at Casale Eredita - a beautiful and clean house, with all the luxury and equipment you need on a holiday. Our two daughters loved the pool, the cats, the wifi (of course!) and we could take them to nice places in the neigherhood. To get to Rome by train was a 'piece of cake' (we went twice). Giacintha is a warm host, loves to tell you about Italy and brought us delicious marmelade, tiramisu and pasta sauce. And last but not least; we are very greatfull Giacintha and her husband build a ramp for our youngest daughter so she could easily get in en out the house in her wheelchair by her self. Thank you! We had a great time in Italy! Willem, Astrid, Robin and Vicky The Netherlands

Simply Wonderful

• We were unusual renters since we spent 5 months at Casale Eredita, from November 2013 through March 2014. We are two retired sisters who now rent for 5 months every year in a different area of Europe, immersing ourselves in a select region, becoming a part of the community and getting to know the surrounding areas. It is almost hard to say how much we loved this wonderful home and the village of Orte and on March 31st, it was very difficult to leave. The converted barn was perfect - modern, comfortable, completely outfitted for ease of living, and wonderfully situated in the countryside and farmlands of the Tiber Valley. But most of all, Giacinta and Gianpiero and their two daughters are the absolute perfect hosts. They are warm and friendly owners – very accommodating but never intrusive and Giacinta is always available to answer questions about the area. This was our fourth year renting in Europe, and this is the first rental we’ve had with each of us having an equally huge, comfortable bedroom with our very own en suite bathroom. Being here during the off-season months, we did not avail ourselves of the large swimming pool, but the gardens, even in winter are big and very beautiful. Orte is in itself and ideal location being only minutes from the major North-South highway so we could easily visit Siena, Assisi, Todi and Orvieto, just to mention a few. And the Orte station allowed us to easily train into Rome and Florence. There just couldn’t be a better, more central location.

This is one of those places you want to tell the world about. But at the same time keep to yourself. We stayed at Casale Eredita for four fantastic weeks! The house is perfect. There is everything you could possible need. And if something is missing the wonderful Giacinta fix it right away. Every room is decorated with a lot of tought, love and good taste. We stayed in the yellow room. The view from the bed was like a picture in a fancy magazine. Olive trees, pink roses and the turqoise water from the pool. We have a 9 month old son and for him Giacinta made a adorable baby bed. Outside is a big private garden. Full with diffrent plants and roses, well taken care off. Very nice! During the day, when the sun moves there are diffrent places to find shadow. This was very good for us and our baby. The location is on the countryside. All you can hear is the wind and diffrent birds. If you enjoy going for a walk or run it's perfect. You can go in any direction and you will have a private time. Just you and the beutiful nature with the oaks like a roof giving you shadow. Sometimes you just have to stop to look at the hills, the fields and the diffrent villages you can see in distance. Orte is a beutiful little village. Quite few tourists. You have the local market, fish store (fresh fish tuesday and friday), bread (won the price for best bread in italy), meat and vegetables. When you shop at these places you can make your own spagetti vongole or vitello with some lemon. Perfect! Your host, Giacinta, is simply the best! She is a varm and caring person. Who knows when to stop and chat or just say ciao and walk by. She helped us out when our boy got sick and had accident so we had to go to the dentist. To us she became very special. She showed us the real Italy and took us to places we nerver would have found. Like the best buffel mozzarella, oil and wine fattoria. You would think that staying that long in the same place you would have something to complain about. But we don't (and we have traveled a lot and we're picky). It's simply a fantastic place and so are the surroundings. You would make a mistake not coming here!

Idyllic cottage in Orte!

We stayed here for our honeymoon after a very busy wedding week at another location and found this place absolutely wonderful. The rooms are spacious and yet very cosy and atmospheric. The whole place was spotlessly clean, has all necessary facilities for peaceful and comfortable stay. Our wonderful hostess Giancinta managed the impossible - to be entirely attentive and at the same time unobtrusive. She is very bubbly and clearly enjoys meeting people and making them happy and comfortable - and makes the best tiramisu i have ever had .... and i have had a few, as it is my favourite desert! The villa, whilst giving entirely the feeling of tranquility and country living, is very near to the A1 motorway, so many places are very accessible. we particularly liked Orvieto, Spoleto, and Bolsena lake. many thanks Giacinata for your warm and cheerful hospitality, we will aim to return. Traumhaus in Latium

R. Schnauder

Perfect week in Italy

Casale Eredita is a fabulous place and Glacinta is the perfect host. The villa is perfect for families with 3 good size bedrooms with a private bathroom for each. Our bedroom also came with french doors that opened up onto the patio by the pool. Large pool and lots of area to run around in the gardens for the kids. Glacinta has done a great job with the gardens that surround the villa. You are only a few minutes outside the town of Orte which is a great hilltop town to explore. Plus another medieval hilltop village is just above them on the hilltop which is a couple minute drive up the hillside. Orte is a great location to explore the Umbria area as your just off the main toll highway and the railway runs through the town. We did day trips like the hot springs in Viterbo, Marmore Waterfalls in Terni, Assisi, the Baci chocolate factory in Perugia and much more. We took the train into Rome on account it was so cheap and easy. Glacainta also arrived on Friday morning with a birthday cake for Ed. She saw his date of birth on the passport and did it as a surprise. Wonderful place to stay. Ed, Heather and family

A week stay in winter

We stayed for a week in this lovely cottage which was a real home for us. The owner,Giacinta was very friendly and hospitable. We had all we needed . If one wishes to discover the Lazio Region, this is a very good base to start from. The only disadvantage we experienced was the first time to find the place. From there on, it was very simple. Thank you once again for your hospitality ,

Nice little country hideaway

Already twice we spent our fall holidays in this very nice and relaxing hideaway in the heart of Latium/Italy. With a very neat outdoor pool and large green for the kids, this country house is placed away from stress, being itself an impressive testimony of medival-style living, all planned and built with a caring hand. About 1 hour north of Rome and the same distance to southern Toscani it is an ideal starting point for trip around mid-Italy. But you need a car. We enjoyed both of our stays. WH

Idyll in Mittelitalien
