Not what I expected
The hotel needs a complete revamp. Tiles and grout were cracked and dirty. Bed linens were thread bare. Toilet would not flush properly. The only saving grace was the friendly helpful staff. Would not stay here again until a complete refurb is done.

Excellent value for money. Close proximity to Leeds. Clean room with comfy bed. Good layout. Friendly staff. Lots of parking.

Wakefield Ramada review rating
We received a friendly and helpful welcome on arrival; we were very pleasantly surprised that our room was on the ground floor (though we had to ask how to use the card serving as a door key). It was well appointed, very clean, plenty of lighting, and a valuable feature was that the central heating came on when it sensed our entry into the room. A minor aspect was that the top of the main surface below the mirror was coming loose, but it didn't affect our enjoyment. The spacious en-suite, interesting in that the shower was in effect a wet-room though the drainage was a bit slow, could have done with extraction and heating. The shower was very easy to operate, though a serious drawback was that the shower head, though easy to move its direction of water flow, was fixed high up (presumably for tall people) and wouldn't come free of its housing; this made it difficult to direct water to all parts of one's body, especially under arms & feet: this caused me to strain my back seriously and didn't heal for a couple of weeks. The restaurant for evening meals (where the excellent and plentiful buffet breakfasts were served) was a wee bit basic with not enough menu choices, though the food was good. Extras such as hot chocolate (at night) (hot chocolate sachets on the hospitality tray would be useful), and the items on a central cabinet were expensive, while the B&B price was very reasonable. On the whole we were very happy with our two-night stay and would certainly come again.

The best thing was the hotel location, literally 30 seconds from the motorway exit. The room was fine but a little chilly until it finally warmed up by the following morning.

It was ok for 1 night. Beds very high and uncomfortable. Toilet way too low. No towel rail. Pubic hairs round bath. No handwash had to use the body wash over the bath. Prices for drinks reasonable. Asked for extension lead to use medical equipment which is used during sleep as I stop breathing. Told they didn’t have one. Room warm. Couldn’t get BBC1 on tv. Needs updating. Very basic.

Do not stay.
The room heaters were not working properly and the room was so cold. The room also didn’t have any soap or shampoo which we had to request. We also asked for an accessible room for my blind mother and even though a request was done through Hotels.com we didn’t get an accessible room. Terrible hotel, poor stay and they have not refunded or provided one single apology. Do not stay here.

Ramada Wakefield needs updating
On check in 2 issues, receptionist said there was no breakfast facilities when we booked and paid for breakfast at the same hotel, staff member didn't know the hotel that he was working in as this was clearly not true after he was corrected by another receptionist who intervened when we started to complain, then we booked a family room and after been given the key card the room was just a double room, so we went to reception and they told us that became it is just 2 staying they have to put us in a double room even though we paid for a family room, we then began to challenge this and only then did they find us the room that we booked. Basically a double room with two small futons each side of the bed with no room to walk. To me its a health and saftey hazard. As the room is too small to be a family room. The room was old and really needs up grading we are gold members and have stayed i rananda before which was uograded and a quality hotel this one certainly not. Breakfast they do not put enough food out and you are having to wait fir the food to come out. They ran out of brown sauce, if ask for something the waiters and the chef works on it straight away, onky one chef working at a time we saw two different chefs over the two days we stayed and they both seems overworked. I should have taken pictures to show you what we experienced. My opinion is that I would not choose stay there again. Unless they make changes. The only good thing is that they had ample parking

Enjoyed my stay but room overlooked the carpark so was a bit noisy so was only to be expected but found other guests a bit inconsiderate about the amount of noise they made in rooms and corridors, also would have been useful to gave some local infomation re taxis, buses etc and even a menu for restaurant

Stayed through week with work and booked to stay the weekend myself was able to stay in same room so no need to check out and check in again made it simple to enjoy the weekend without having to check in again the staff at this hotel are very welcoming and friendly the food is to a very good standard and value for money 10/10

The room that I stayed in could have done with a deep clean. All the light switches were dirty and I could not put my feet on the carpet because it tacky with something. The staff I could not fault, they were very happy to help where I needed it.

Hotel feels a little tired. Staff were friendly and supportive. Was the end of a 31 degree day. No A/C in the room and could barely open the window because of the safety bars. Requested a fan but just moved the hot an air around. Not the best night sleep because of it.

Room for improvement
The room was clean however with the heat and only having a small fan was a problem. Opened the window and had traffic noise. The restaurant could really do with a new menu. The shower had hot water most of time not sure what would happen if there was a 2nd person with me. Staff was friendly and always had a smile.

Easy stay.
Staff were very helpful and friendly and certainly kept the rooms clean. However I’m disappointed in the overall condition of the hotel. It’s very tired and obviously in need of a refurb. It took me the full duration of my stay to figure out if there was an air pocket under the bathroom Lino or if the flooring was sinking… Still never figured it out…. However, a very handy location very welcoming team, so that more than makes up for the tired look.

Good value for a decent hotel.
Decent budget hotel that was all I needed for my business stop over. Room was a little worn around the edges but was clean and bed was comfy. Breakfast did what I needed it to do and the staff were friendly and efficient. Can't complain and good value.
