  • The Bolthole is a delightful two-bedroom holiday cottage nestled in Nuneham Courtenay, Oxfordshire. Just six miles south of Oxford and 21 miles north west of Reading, this charming country retreat features a tasteful blend of fabrics and furnishings curated by the owner. Enjoy the picturesque rear garden with patio and garden furniture, along with convenient off-street parking for two cars. Ideal for a peaceful countryside getaway.

    About The Bolthole:
    - Entrance hall with private door leading to the rear garden.
    - Country-style kitchen equipped with high-quality chinaware, cooking equipment, electric induction hob, double oven with grill, microwave, toaster, kettle, and fridge with freezer.
    - Cottage-style fitted kitchen with quartz work surfaces.
    - Electric heating with user-friendly controls throughout.
    - Dining room with a table and chairs for meals.
    - Living room furnished with a sofa, easy chairs, flat screen TV, and a cosy wood-burning stove.
    - Bedrooms: Bedroom one with a single bed and work area, and bedroom two with a king-size bed, chest of drawers, and seating.
    - Hallway cupboard with hanging space.
    - WIFI available throughout the cottage.
    - Wood-burning stove for added warmth and ambience.
    - Rear garden featuring a patio area and garden furniture.

    - Soundproofed windows ensure minimal road noise despite facing the A4074.
    - Please note: There are occasional peacocks in the garden which visit from a nearby estate. The peacocks are large but very pretty and a delight to watch. However, if you are Ornithophobic or have an allergy to feathers this cottage may not be for you!

We had an amazing stay at this well-provided for property. The location is amazing, a small village but incredibly close to amenities and great resutaurants nearby. And can't neglect to mention the peacocks! They were definitely one of the highlights of our stay, it was lovely to share coffee and breakfast every morning with these amazing visitors

Lovely cottage - everything was perfectly prepared for our arrival. Communication was clear and friendly from start to finish. We had such a peaceful and relaxing stay, exactly the proper switch-off time we needed. It’s also wonderfully close to Oxford if you’re looking for a bit of sightseeing or a more social day out. We would happily return!

Lovely few days

Quaint really well equipped cottage set in lovely village a few miles from oxford. Lovely garden with patio furniture which allowed us to have breakfast in the company of the peacocks

Nice clean property in a good location

Good facilities and a wood burner makes this a very cosy spot for a winter stay. Well located for the bus into Oxford and other walking routes to some nice local pubs. Nice to have friendly peacocks and peahens roaming the garden but they did make quite a mess on our car. It would have been useful to have known about this before the stay so that we could have brought suitable cleaning products.

A very well equipped and comfy cottage

A lovely cottage - very well equipped. Excellent log burner to keep us warm in the evenings. Excellent location for central Oxford with the X40 bus stopping just up the road. We left the car on the drive all our stay and just used the bus. Funny to look out of the back door and see so many peafowl in the back garden - very gentle birds, even bringing their peachicks to see us. Would definately stay there again

Quiet getaway

I needed to getaway to recharge my batteries and the cottage was lovely place to do so. My only issue was with the labeling of the key fobs - they all said the same thing and didn’t all have the same keys on so when going out I grabbed a fob and before you can even check to see if you have the right keys the door is locks behind you. It was quite a shock to find that the key did not open the door and was for the front door and not the back door. I was then charged fifty pounds for someone to come out. Label the key fobs accordingly and this type of issue would not come up. Apart from that it was a lovely stay. You do need a car because there is not even a village shop but there are some lovely walks and beautiful scenery. The bed was really comfortable. The peacocks are lovely - they are loud but that is to be expected - still lovely! There were 21 in and around the garden one day - it was lovely to sit outside and have a cuppa.
