This was a beautiful home with plenty of space for us in the upstairs lofted master and two private rooms below, one for each of our teens. All the surfaces were clean and modern with gorgeous tile and sinks in the bathrooms, and granite in the kitchen. I especially liked the large open kitchen dining and living area. We had sufficient kitchen supplies to prepare and eat our breakfasts and lunches here, but mostly grabbed dinner while we were out touring the area. The upstairs lofted master is only separated from the common space by the staircase and can get very warm during the afternoon. But it cools down fairly well and quickly when using the provided AC or by opening windows at night (when there is a breeze). Bugs can be a problem in Hawaii, but they were controlled well here, especially in comparison to other places we stayed during our trip. You just have to walk past 1 house to reach a community park that’s adjacent to the rocky shoreline. It’s a beautiful view, but not really safe for getting into the water. The more accessible beaches are a 25-45 minute drive away. Carlsmith Beach Park in Hilo is a gem! Proximity to Volcanoes National Park was another big draw. Overall, we thoroughly enjoyed the home and would be more than happy to stay here again.
