Some places you visit. Some places become a part of your story.
Tucked into a quiet neighborhood in Palmer, Alaska, Story House is a gathering place for connection, rest, and shared memories. With expansive shared spaces, accommodations for up to 25 overnight guests, wooded meadow surroundings, and peekaboo mountain views from the library, the home was intentionally created for meaningful time together.
Ideal for multi-family vacations, retreats, and milestone weekends, Story House combines the warmth of a private home with room to hold your people.
SHARED GATHERING SPACES
One house that holds you all—with room to spread out and recharge.
The home features:
• A spacious Dining Room and Great Hall for shared meals, games, and gathering • Multiple kitchens and living rooms • A warm coffee nook • A quiet library with an enclosed Murphy bed • A separate, cozy apartment • A Spa Cottage with a hot tub, sauna, tucked-away living room, and gas fireplace • Expansive decks, outdoor seating, and a play yard
No scattering across hotels or cutting conversations short for the drive back. Here, long dinners become fireside conversations, morning coffee doesn’t require a drive, and everyone settles in at their own pace.
Children can wander back to bed, grandparents can turn in early, and late-night conversations can keep going. The whole group stays close.
SLEEPING SPACES
Main House The King Hearth Suite with ensuite bath, two queen bedrooms, and the enclosed library Murphy bed, with easy access to the home’s primary gathering spaces.
Loft & Bunkhouse Flexible sleeping arrangements for 10–12 guests, ideal for kids, retreats, and shared group stays.
Hideaway Suite A separate-entry apartment with two queen bedrooms, full kitchen, living room, bath, laundry, recliner, and pull-out sofa—perfect for guests wanting additional privacy while staying connected to the group.
THE SPA COTTAGE
A little retreat within your retreat, with a hot tub, sauna, gas fireplace, cozy living room, and king-sized lounging loft. A 12-foot window reveals an unexpected view into an enclosed wooded nook, bringing the outdoors into this intimate space.
Slip away for a quiet conversation, warm up after an Alaska adventure, or settle into a delightful routine: hot tub, sauna, living room, fireplace. Repeat.
THE SETTING
Beautiful indoor-outdoor spaces offer places to gather and places to slip away. Multiple decks overlook the play yard, while garden nooks and secluded seating invite conversation, reading, and quiet rest.
Summers bring long daylight evenings and time together outdoors. Winter brings softened lighting, fireside conversations, and snowfall framed through large windows.
Inside, feather duvets, linen bedding, natural materials, and thoughtful lighting make the house feel welcoming. Mountain murals bring Alaska into the rooms—and tend to stop guests mid-sentence.
A FEW SURPRISES
Families and groups will enjoy the removable slide, swing set, hammock, and trampoline. At least one guest has declared that 60 is absolutely young enough for the slide.
Then there’s the secret playroom, deliberately not pictured because some surprises deserve keeping. Discovering it feels a little like stumbling into Narnia, complete with toys and a little kitchen. The cries of joy when children find it are a delight all their own.
EXPLORE ALASKA
Hiking, snowboarding, kayaking, glacier adventures, and scenic day trips are all within reach. Explore Palmer, Hatcher Pass, the Matanuska Glacier, and surrounding mountain areas, then come home to dinner and an evening together.
Whether your days are full of adventure or mostly spent moving between the coffee nook, library, and fireplace, there’s room here to enjoy Alaska at your own pace.
STORIES FROM THE HAUS
Since opening, Story House has welcomed families, friends, couples, leadership retreats, and wedding groups. The following reflections bring together feedback guests have shared with us.
STAY · For the well-traveled, the whole family, and the wonderfully curious
Guests who’ve stayed in beautiful places around the world tell us Story House feels wonderfully different—and they want to return.
Large families have found room to deeply enjoy being together: long conversations, shared meals, and a library someone immediately claims as their favorite room.
Others remember the unexpected details—the mountain murals, the hidden playroom, or discovering that the slide is quite enjoyable at any age.
PLAY · Finding something unexpected
At community gatherings, guests have marveled at how beautiful and unexpected the space feels. They linger, explore, and ask what’s happening next.
ESCAPE · Room to simply be
BE — A little room to yourself Some settle into the library, others into the spa. Being here together can still leave room for everyone to enjoy their own quiet.
BESTIES — Time with your people We’ve hosted groups of women and friends who simply love spending time together. No grand occasion required. The Spa Cottage, opened in fall 2026, gives them one more place to settle in.
BEAU — Just the two of you One couple chose a two-night private Escape. What delighted them was having more than a room: the coffee nook, Great Room, library, and an entire property to enjoy at their own pace. They left feeling rejuvenated.
CELEBRATE · Moments that become memories
Guests have described celebrations here as some of the most beautiful they’ve attended.
Some of our favorite moments happen before anyone arrives. As couples imagine their walk down the aisle—with their people gathered close and Story House’s spaces and décor made personal to them—every couple so far has been moved to tears during planning.
PLANNING YOUR STAY
This Vrbo listing is for overnight accommodations—a home base for multi-family vacations, Alaska adventures, restorative weekends, creative retreats, and time with the people you rarely get under one roof.

If your visit includes a wedding, event, or additional visitors, please discuss your plans with us before booking so we can confirm the arrangements.
Whether you come for an Alaska adventure or simply to be together, the rare luxury here is time—the kind that becomes the stories you tell for years to come.

Beautiful property, enough room for an extendedfamily gathering or family and friends! Space for both large congregating or quiet individual time.Hosts Amberly and AJ attentive to us and any of our needs, easy to communicate with. The large yard was a super playground for children and their games. New spa with sauna and hot tub! The home also featured a Fascinating collection of books to peruse. We loved every second of our time there. Congratulations to the hosts on building a beautiful easy to live in home away from home.

Awesome place! Lots of room for our 17 multi-generational family. Very impressed with the property and our family loved the space and location. We had things going on both in Palmer and Wasilla through the week and we were so close to our family events. We would not hesitate to return if we have another family gathering!
