Proprietor cancelled 5 night stay less than 48 hours before check in
Please Note: Due to late cancellation, and not having stayed in the property , the ratings above are not reflective of my stay ar the property however without providing these I was unable to post my review which I feel is worth raising as potential risk to future guests, not being aware of whether this is a regular occurrence or whether I was simply unfortunate)
Not having received check in details I sent a message to the proprietor 2 days before. The response informed me that there had been a 'bad synchronisation of diary and so would not be able to honour my stay'.
No apology of any kind was offered as such by the proprietor.
I asked when exactly they would have advised me had I not sent my message.....without response.
2 hours before the original check-in time, I received an email from vrbo advising me of the same....and offering to help me to find alternative accommodation...rather late in the day....
Fortunately, after sending a few messages to the proprietor requesting confirmation of when the refund of the full fee would be transferred back to me and being told 'not to worry' (which having read a number of reviews by vrbo clients who had similar problems in contacting vrbo and lost their bookings & monies, did not exactly instil any confidence) I received a formal email from vrbo confirming the refund had been made; this has now been received. in my account.
I had spent a considerable time selecting the property, partly due to location as I had lived in this district some years previously, and also cost.
Finding another room with availability for 5 nights at such late notice cost me more than twice the original booking cost.
I am sure the studio would have been perfect for my stay, but in any case count myself lucky to have had the Full payment refunded.
