Quando Askham si trovava a Westmorland, molti pensavano che fosse forse il villaggio più grazioso di quella contea. Westmorland non è ufficialmente più. Tuttavia Askham, con il vicino vicino Lago Ullswater, rimane per deliziare i visitatori. Askham ha due pub, una piscina all'aperto (la piscina per bambini è riscaldata), caffè, ceramica e ufficio postale.

Il vecchio fienile, vestito parzialmente di edera e rose rampicanti, si infila comodamente in questo pittoresco villaggio addormentato. Il piano primo piano aperto è una caratteristica piacevole. Ampio salone con arredi confortevoli si fonde con sala da pranzo, mentre la cucina separata è adiacente. Sistemazioni per dormire e bagno sono al piano di sotto.

Accattivanti cottage del XVII secolo circondano un villaggio verde che scende fino al fiume Lowther. Il centro Bird of Prey è a 1 3/4 miglia di distanza.

Nelle vicinanze si trova il fiume Lowther e il maestoso castello di Lowther, immerso in un delizioso parco coronato da magnifici viali alberati.

Negozio del villaggio, piscina e pub a pochi minuti a piedi.

Una zona ideale per gli escursionisti, con passeggiate lungo il fiume vicino alla porta di casa e a breve distanza dalle famose cascate di Aira Force. Gowbarrow Fell, la catena montuosa High Street e Helvellyn sono facilmente raggiungibili in auto. Per i più energici e avventurosi c'è il Rookin House Activity Center dove è possibile provare numerose attività tra cui tiro con l'arco, quad, go kart, equitazione, pesca e tiro al piattello. Anche una zona ideale per la mountain bike o il ciclismo. I laghi Haweswater e Ullswater sono entrambi facilmente raggiungibili.

Good base and incredibly friendly village

The house was everything we needed, opposite a pub and the swimming pool. The villagers were very friendly and helpfull, especially in the swimming pool. Unfortunately the internet stopped working on the third day but the rental company responded out of hours to help sort it out..

We just loved this stone house called the Old barn!!!

The house was located in Askham where we were going to a wedding. It was super clean and so convenient. Near a pub where other friends were staying and just around the corner from the town store. Very private but central to everything. We would definitely stay there again. Was absolutely perfect!

Beautiful stay

My friends and I were so pleased with the cottage and such a lovely village in the Lake District. Great communication and very helpful. Very handy to have parking right out side the house and great Wi-Fi during our stay. Was such a cosy home to stay in the for the weekend after lots of walking. Thanks so much for hosting us :)

Lovely stay in Askham

This is a lovely, traditional barn type house. Very homely and traditional, some would say old fashioned but charming. We were three generations and used it as a base to tour the Lakes. Lots of lovely walks. The two pubs in the village are great and The Queens Head offers a tasting menu alongside light bites. We ate at the other pub in the village twice - traiditional pub grub. We did lots of lovely walks to Lowther Castle and up into the Fells just out of the village. The house could do with another loo but that is just personal preference! The house has all the basic amenities. One word of warning, Askham really doesn't have any service. The key safe wouldn't work so had to call the key holder and couldn't. Luckily I borrowed someone's wifi!!

Nice location for exploring Ullswater and area

Clean and well equipped cottage, nice base for a break in the lakes, or as for us, weekend accommodation for a wedding. Rooms are compact but perfectly fine - smaller single room may be more suitable for children rather than adults for a longer stay. Upstairs living area very nice to relax in and kitchen very well equipped for meals and food storage - lovely big fridge & freezer. Host was great, and check in very easy. Only small confusion with the balancing payment, as we'd thought this would be taken automatically, but it was easy to sort. Many thanks

Lovely quiet area

This cottage was as per the listing although parking is on the street outside the door. The area is very quiet despite being virtually opposite a pub. 20 minutes drive to Ulleswater or about an hour to Windermere so perfect for exploring.

Home from home… Lovely house, great area will definitely stay again

Had the best week! The house was lovely and had everything we needed and in a great location. Lots of great walks locally and lovely pubs and cafes. Couldn’t of asked for a better place.

Fantastic location and the house met all our needs and was a good base

The property was homely and had everything we needed for our stay . The communication prior to the stay was timely and helpful . The location was very good with a well stocked local shop and Communal Garden and outdoor heated pool across the road we could use. Plus several pubs serving food. I would have liked an option to recycle bottles /packing , we dd separate out in case this waste could be collected seperately

Quaint little cottage

We really enjoyed our stay at this cottage. I felt the cottage was clean in all rooms on arrival but cob webs in corners of ceiling and under table need attention. All rooms presented well, kitchen a little dated but actually fit in with the cottage, however fridge not very cold and could do with changing. Overall my family and I enjoyed our stay it was comfortable and was fit for purpose (visiting the lakes). The property was listed as Pooley Bridge but it’s over 5 miles from there so not a short walk to PB as we thought it would be.

the old barn

stayed with family of 5 (2 adults and three children). Good size property for family and very well located in centre of Askham. One pub opposite and another within less than 5 min easy walk. The Punchbowl was a nice country pub and food was nice (food served to 9). Didnt eat in the Queens Head opposite as only served food until 6. just round the corner was the open air swimming pool which the kids liked and 15 /20 minutes drive to Ullswater. Enjoyed the stay, cottage could do with a little updating but perfectly good enough. No outdoor space but not really a problem given the location.

Lovely House in a Lovely Location

A modernized house furnished to retain an old country charm, we spent a great few days here. Very well equipped too, hardly needed to bring anything. Well maintained and nicely cleaned and prepared between guests. The little village is great to, very picturesque and quiet and just a few minutes drive from bigger towns and attractions. And you've got to love a lockbox! Makes checking in obsolete.
