Cozy cottage w/sunset views + quick walk to a private beach (dog friendly!)

Welcome to Sunset Lane Cottage. This cozy space is the perfect Cape Breton Island retreat! We are on a beautiful half acre private property with boho-cottage beach decor. Are you into stunning nightly sunsets, private beach walks, relaxation around the fire pit, and delicious baked goods? We've got you covered! We are located off of the beautiful Cabot Trail for your convenience. If you are an ocean lover, you can either walk 3-5 minutes down a private path to your own beach, or drive 2 minutes up the road to Le Buttereau, which features stunning Highland Park views as you picnic, swim, play, stand-up-paddle or kayak in your salt + fresh water haven. Sunset Lane Cottage is located 0.5kms to Aucoin's Bakery, 3.9kms to the Highlands National Park, 2.9 kms to the Gypsum Mines, 2.5kms to Cheticamp, local restaurants, and Le Portage golf course, and 12 kms to the Skyline Trail. Great house in great location! Cabot trail access, Gypsum mine, Whale watching and Cheticamp has everything you need (grocery store, liquor store and restaurants). My teenagers loved the access to the beach and the wi-fi was great. The adults loved the quiet private deck for morning coffee and evening beverages. This house was the cherry on top of a wonderful family vacation. We have already recommended it to many family and friends.

Wonderful dog friendly cottage to relax and explore the area

Beautiful place to stay while exploring the area. A short walk down a private trail leads to the beach. Property was very clean and well stocked for any traveler. It was the perfect place to come back to after a long day of hiking and fishing. We started and ended our days on the beach. Used the supplied lobster pot to cook lobsters on the deck. The clothesline was in use drying out our waders and rainy day clothes. Only wish our schedule allowed us to stay a little longer. Being within walking distance of an incredible bakery was a bonus!

Peaceful & Welcoming

First experience renting with Vrbo, and it was beyond our expectations. This cottage is beautiful and very well maintained. Location is perfect, very quiet area, it's close to bakery, (Aucoin) a must try, trails, stores and restaurants. Angela is an excellent host, we had enough supplies to last us for our 6 nights stay. We enjoyed our stay. Fire pit was a nice added bonus.

Weekend away

We really enjoyed the cottage and were glad to find beach chairs and bug spray! There were lots of things to do, go to the beach, the coffee shop and art gallery, kayaking, hiking and whale tours.

Sweet Cabin

2 moms traveling with adult daughters found this cabin to be a wonderful place to stay that fit our needs perfectly. So close to Cape Breton Highlands National Park for hiking and wonderful restaurants nearby to try. We enjoyed our time here exploring the private beach and playing the games provided. Angela and her family were fantastic hosts!

wonderful accommodations terrible communication (vrbo)

Everything connected to the host (Angela) and her property was amazing. Everything connected with VRBO was terrible. Our inbox at vrbo had a several day delay so we did not have the code to enter the cottage when we arrived. We were remote, standing in the rain, with no way to get in and no where close to go to. When we called vrbo they seemed to pretend to not hear us and hung up on the first call. I said my name loudly and clearly several times and kept getting the reply “you’re breaking up” and repeatedly asking my name. We could hear them clearly. When we said “I hope this is being recorded he finally betrayed that he could in fact hear us clearly and finally gave us the code that Angela sent that wasn’t appearing in our vrbo inbox

Lovely cottage

We had a wonderful time in the cottage during the cold season. Angela was extremely helpful and always available. We loved the area, the beach and the snow in the national park. Everything was perfect!

Lovely place to stay on the west coast of the island

Wonderful place to stay. Great location, very comfy and well appointed. We had a wonderful time spending 6 days using this as our home base while exploring all over the highlands park. Will definitely stay here again when we return to Cape Breton.return

All the comforts of home

This was more than just a place to base your adventures from it was also great to relax, hang out, be right at home in. The nearby beach is huge and beautiful and the cottage is adorable and comfortable! Had everything we needed and more right at hand.

A Hooker’s Dream

We came to Cheticamp to see the rug hooking experts and we were very pleased. The people we met and the rugs that we saw were absolutely GREAT. We also had a great trip on the Cabot Trail! The house was perfect. Well appointed, lots of room and everything we could ever want. It was perfectly located - near everything that one could want in Cheticamp. We loved the bakery Au Coin and the restaurants in the area. A great vacation place! Thank you.

Great location

This was one of our favorite rentals when staying in numerous rentals across Nova Scotia and PEI. It it located on the edge of Cheticamp and the edge of Cape Brenton Highlands National Park. The house was clean and bright with lots of natural light. There is a walking path to the beach where the sunsets were beautiful. Cheticamp is a cute town with some shops and restaurants. We enjoyed the Doryman for the food and music, breakfast at Restaurant Evangeline and pizza from Wabo's Pizza.
