Beautiful Newly Renovated Home Away from Home

Enjoy your stay in Pittsburgh, in this beautiful newly renovated 2 bedroom / 1.5 bathroom house, which can comfortably accommodate 5 guests. The 2-story property has 2 spacious bedrooms, 1.5 bathrooms, a fully equipped kitchen, a bright living room, a front porch desk, a laundry room with washer and dryer, and all the amenities you will need.

THE SPACE
Conveniently located in a residential area, next to Mt. Washington park, and nearby the Pittsburgh city center and the Cultural District, with many restaurants and bars to choose from. Whether you wish to relax or go out and enjoy the numerous activities and attractions in Pittsburgh, this is a perfect location to stay in!

This is a 2-story property. The kitchen, living room, laundry room and 0.5 bathroom are located on the ground floor. The 2 bedrooms and full bathroom are located on the top floor. Both the Master bedroom and the second bedroom are spacious and have 1 Queen size bed, and each can accommodate 2 guests. The 5th guest can use the couch, located in the living room, on the ground floor. Both bedrooms and the living room are equipped with Smart TVs. The bright living room has a couch, lounge chairs, and a coffee table; a great spot for our guests to relax inside or gather around and watch TV. The property has A/C. heating, free WiFi, and is also equipped with a hair dryer and iron. The kitchen area is warm and large, and has a dining table and all the amenities you may need: refrigerator, oven, dish washer, toaster, Keurig coffee maker, microwave and cutlery.

Feel free to use the laundry room, which is equipped with a washer and dryer. The spacious front porch deck is a great space to sit outside and enjoy a cup of coffee in this quiet residential area. This cozy property has been recently renovated and its layout offers a relaxing and comfortable stay.

Mt Washington park is located close to the property and offers beautiful city views, and features a 257-acre wooded park, and restaurants. The Cultural District is 2.6 miles away from the property. Point State Park Fountain is 2.4 miles away from the property. Station Square, an entertainment district featuring diverse restaurants and stores, as well as a musical fountain, is just 1.3 miles away.
Check out Points of View Park, a popular hillside park featuring a George Washington bronze sculpture & panoramic views of the city, is 1.6 miles away.

The following attractions are all located nearby and are great places to visit for adults and kids:
- The Andy Warhol Museum is 2.8 away from the property

The owner never sent check in instructions to us. When we tried to contact them through message and calling, they never responded. Then had the virtual VRBO assistant try contacting the owner and had no response. We luckily found a hotel nearby to stay at. I would not recommend trying to book this place.

WARNING—DO NOT BOOK THIS PROPERTY

I booked this property about 5 weeks in advance. I reached out to Peter the night before for check in details. After no response, the day I was supposed to check in, I reached out to VRBO customer support. After several attempts, they were not able to reach him either. I had to book a hotel last minute. Vrbo did an excellent job of rectifying the situation but I would hate for anyone else to have the same experience.

Good location

Great location, clean, beds were comfortable. No issues parking on the street. Only thing I would have liked better is to have the living room furniture be more comfortable. Overall great stay and nice place. Owner was great with communication!

Quaint home in convenient neighborhood

This home was exactly as advertised and met our needs quite nicely! Although we chose to use public transit, the street parking was easy and available. The stairs can be difficult to navigate; however, that is the nature of living in the Pittsburgh area, and we knew what to expect. Overall, we were pleased with the accommodations.

Moldly and Leaking

I do not recommend staying at this rental. On Friday night my nephew went to use the shower when we saw that a) the shower was super moldly, b) the drain was clogged to the point hair was coming back UP the drain, and c) the 2nd story shower leaks into the 1st story kitchen. We immediately called "Peter" who btw is not Peter, it is a property management company in California. They told us to send them pictures of the leak and to message them through VRBO to authorize a handyman coming to fix the leak while we are away. Spoiler alert: No one came. We emailed, called, and messaged repeatedly each time receiving the same response, "we are working to find a solution and we will contact you shortly". The solution was calling a plumber/handyman, but no one took that step. My family was forced to use a moldly, leaking shower for 3 days. There is only one shower on the property. We have since called VRBO to get a refund and were told that since we called after our stay that we are not eligible for a refund. The property also has a leaky freezer that in your welcome email Peter will say to keep at a certain temp to avoid a leak. He also says that if the freezer leaks and causes damages while you are there, that you will be charged for the damages. Well the freezer leaks regardless of the temperature and the floors in the kitchen are very warped from the water. A couple of added notes are that the house has spider webs in each corner and the couch is wildly uncomfortable.

Good location and price

Location of stay was very nice, a little nerve racking during the winter and after a snowfall, which occurred during the stay but salt was left by the door and like any other place with snow you just have to be very cautious with how you enter and exit the house. First floor was very cold but hanging out with the family upstairs where the heat is apparent was just as enjoyable for my family and I. We don’t need a lot to enjoy ourselves and this was a great place to give us the space and freedom to create memories together in a city we’ve never been to.

Good value and location to the city

The property is clean and fairly well maintained inside. The kitchen is great and the beds are comfortable. It was nice to have a half bath on the first floor. The bathroom could use some additional counter space as there’s no room to place your toiletries and the shower could use a clean caulk. The living room furniture is not conducive to hanging out or relaxing to watch TV as the furniture is extremely uncomfortable. The front stairway to get into the home is treacherous especially in the winter. I did try to contact the property manager twice to inquire about the falling ceiling in the bathroom but those inquires were responded by automated messages about our duties as guests etc. Overall it was a good place to stay that met our needs to be proximate to the city and northern suburb.

Anthrocon Getaway

Great experience with check in and the property was as described. It should be noted the stairs to get up to the property are very steep. We had trouble with the AC being on a schedule that was never resolved and created very warm nights. The thermostat is clearly controlled remotely. We had a wonderful time in Pittsburgh - location close to the convention center!

Worst communication and unreasonable host

This is a terrible experience staying at Peters home. Place is as described when we arrived. Upon checking in we tried opening the shower door and it came unhinged from its track. The shower door is a glass corner type that rolls open but the mechanism that holds the rollers to the track were not tight and it flew off the track. Thankfully the glass shower door didn’t fall on us. I immediately messaged Peter and sent a picture text to this supposed phone number he said to use anytime. Peter was asked and also directed by VRBO to call me. Not a single call to me was made and the only way he would help was to tell me he will get to it as best he can through the Vrbo messenger. I had to hold the shower door up during my kids and wife’s showering to ensure it didn’t fall on them. I had nicely asked Peter if he could refund the last night of stay because of this and no reasonable help was offered. If this was a simple issue of a cabinet door or maybe a screen door being broken I wouldn’t have minded but because we need to use the shower it’s a safety concern. It’s a GLASS shower door that can fall on us and even shatter! After many attempts to resolve this with VRBO I gave up and left a day earlier than our booking. Don’t expect to talk directly with Peter on the phone because the number you get from him is his property management service. All I needed was a reasonable conversation and understanding but not one single apology or offer to help refund the day we left earlier. Do Not stay here if you’re looking a nice host. I mentioned to him that I would post a review about the door and bad communication. Guess what Peter decided to do to retaliate? He sent me a bill of damages to the shower door stating we pushed it very hard to make it come off the track. Why would we do that???? Unbelievable.

Steelers Game

My son and I flew up for a Steelers game. We liked the location and quiet neighborhood. The property was in good condition and clean. The only area of improvement would be to replace the small sofa and chairs with something more comfortable for a man.

Good place to spend a week

Overall, this was a great location and a comfortable place to stay. Peter was great at responding to us when the wifi wasn't working (which we both needed for work). Beds were comfortable. Appointed with almost everything we needed. I would have liked a few storage containers for leftover food we prepared, and some salt & pepper. The stairs up from the street to the house are steep and uneven in spots - if anyone has mobility issues, look elsewhere.

Pitt visit

We were glad to be close to our son at Pitt. The house was clean and warm. The WIFI was not working and Netflix was at capacity of users so we could not use it. Otherwise it was a nice place to stay.

Very Clean Older Property

This property was very clean and in a decent neighborhood. Peter (the property owner) was very helpful and responsive. The kitchen and comfortable beds were the best aspects of the property. The living room funiture was serviceable but not super comfortable. For the price and location, I'd stay here again.
