“We stayed at the Moat House on our way up north and again on our way back south. Both times were a great experience. The rooms are very comfortable with good showers - all our requests were catered to. My husband left his electric shaver behind and they are sending it back to us. We were not looking for formal dining in the main restaurant and The Bar Lounge menu turned out to be very good - special mention on the Mackerel Rillettes starter!! Head Chef James Cracknell was sent our grateful...

“We stayed recently for 2 nights as a family of 4 (2 adults, 1 child and 1 baby). The room was small but comfortable and had all the amenities we required. The breakfast was delicious with a great range of food choices. All the staff were friendly and welcoming. Hotel location was good and easy to find. Plenty of parking spaces outside. ”

“I strongly disagree with a a method of rating that rates 8-10 as good to excellent and 1-7 as poor. Think of your staff and how you can make their experience and expectations better over customers who will stay 1-2 nights and can complain about the thing and it’s probably been the best sleep and breakfast they’ve had in a long time. Think about your staff in the strange rating culture that we live in, please!”

“Unfortunately I had eaten enroute so did not dine in the nicely furnished olde style pub which took orders until 20.30 but, despite my 20.20 arrival I was given opportunity to eat. The bed was very comfortable. An armchairxwas provided in addition to a chair.”

“Nice, clean with a nice local pub right across the courtyard. Very handy. However the pub is only open limited hours and no where else to eat within walking distance except a fish n chips joint. We stayed in apartment 3. Suited our family of 4 well, but note there is no mini fridge or micro that a family might hope for. Walls are thin too but not a big deal. ”

“A very pleasant stay - stayed for a couple of nights whilst working in the area. All staff were very pleasant. The room was very spacious and comfortable. The hotel is in a very quiet area with lots of scenic countryside around to see. Just be aware that the rooms are on the 3rd floor and there are only stairs for access, but that is to be expected with a listed building.”

The room was very clean and spacious with fabulous extras such as the tea and coffee in a picnic basket. The food was top class with a lovely place to sit and have an after meal drink. “Great place for football lovers. Beautiful building, Spacious and clean. Staff were exceptionally friendly and accommodating. There is history, memorabilia and pictures of English football history and current achievements. The spa facilities are awesome and the staff too. No regrets and will definitely return. Just one negative was that our room had a shower but not a bath. I love to have a long hot bath when away but they tried to move us but the alternative rooms weren't suitable for us....
