Typical farmhouse with private pool between Pisa and Siena

Situated in quiet and panoramic position, less then 1 km from the medieval hamlet of San Dalmazio, Colombaia is a typical farmhouse recently renovated into a holiday house with private pool.

The house is built with local stones and surrounded by well kept outdoor areas including an olive grove with the 5x10x1,40 m pool available from May to 12/09.

Inside has been comfortable furnished in country style and with modern facilities such as TV, washing machine and dishwasher.

For free use of the guests there are some mountain bikes for nice excursions in the inviting countryside.

The village of San Dalmazio 850 mt, offers grocery shop, bar and 2 restaurants. Pomarance is approx 6 km away. Volterra 35 km, the beaches at Cecina 40 km, Siena 60 km, Pisa 90 km, and Florence 100 km.

ACCOMMODATION: Pax 6+2 / 120 sqm:
•Lower ground floor - large patio, wood burning oven for pizza's, furnished panoramic terrace, garden.
•Elevated ground floor - living room, kitchen dining room with fireplace, 2 double bedrooms, 1 twin bedroom, 2 bathrooms.

2 additional beds to be placed either in the living room or bedrooms.

The rental price is determined based on the number of guests. There is a fixed rate for up to 6 people. For any additional guests, up to a maximum of 2, the system automatically calculates an extra charge.

  • #TroveOn Yes, Monteriggioni just might be the quintessential walled medieval village in Tuscany. It's small enough to perhaps be called "cute" but you won't catch me using this term. Monteriggioni began as a border fortress built on a round hill by Sienna against the Florentines. It is famous for the intact defensive structure that held up against repeated Florentine attacks in the 11th century; its 10 meter high walls and 14 towers can still be seen for miles around. Monteriggioni has been featured in movies as a typical medieval village. The village is slightly elliptical in shape with two gates (a third has been plugged). The major gate tourists will use when coming from the parking lot, Porta Franca, owes its name to the Via Francigena--Monteriggione was a major stop on the pilgrimage trail from Cantebury to Rome. The Romanesque Church of Santa Maria Assunta will offer assistance with housing for modern pilgrims traveling the Francigena pilgrimage route. Monteriggioni was a sleepy village of farmers and sheep herders as late as the 1960's. Today it exists entirely for tourists and pilgrims. You'll find wine shops, a tasting room, restaurants and hotels in the small village. This is not neccessarily a disadvantage, although some times it's nice to see some locals puttering about once in a while. Where is Monteriggioni? Monteriggioni is located in the province of Siena, 14km to the northwest of Siena (54km from Florence). While it can be done as a day trip from Siena, you might be better off staying the night--Monteriggioni is much more evocative when the tourists leave late in the afternoon and you can sit in a courtyard sipping a glass of Chianti. Monteriggioni is surrounded by vineyards, and is known for its wine production.

Wir waren fast drei Wochen mit drei erwachsenen Kindern in San Dalmazio bei Pomarance und haben uns in das Haus und die Umgebung verliebt! Ein wundervolles Haus in absoluter Alleinlage, viel Platz in allen Zimmern, alles super sauber, Küche sehr gut ausgestattet für die Selbstverpflegung. ein super großer Pool zur Alleinnutzung mit Liegen und Sonnenschirmen. die Familie ist sehr umsorgend, Poolreinigung regelmäßig und Wäschewechsel einmal wöchentlich perfekt. Paola, ihre Schwester und Eltern sind sehr nett und stellen exzellentes Öl und Wein selbst her und bringen auch immer wieder mal Tomaten vorbei. Ein tolles Haus, sehr zu empfehlen!!

Everything was just perfect. The house and the surroundings with the pool are so lovely.Absolutely quiet on a remote hill.Paola and her parents did all they can to make our stay unforgettable: Paola provided hints and ideas for daytrips, cities to visit and events. Her parents took care of the house and the pool.They even brought us olive oil and home-grown vegetables.They were available all time, but not at all obtrusive.Thank you again for a great stay!

Sehr freundliche Gastgeber

Das Haus hat leider keine Klimaanlage und ist zweckmäßig eingerichtet. Zwei Familien können hier prima mit einander Urlaub machen. Die Gastgeberfamilie ist sehr freundlich und stets bemüht, wenn man es denn möchte. Wir haben den Urlaub sehr genossen.

Séjour parfait!

Maison typique très belle, très bien décorée, la piscine est un atout surtout pour les fins de journées. Des hôtes généreux, agréables et très disponibles. Emplacement parfait pour visiter plusieurs villes antiques et médiévales de la région. Des chemins de randonnées pour visiter les fumeroles et autres lieux . Je recommande en tout point.

After a warm welcome by the owners (Paola and Gabriella) we were immediately impressed by the fantastic surroundings! Pure nature! All you heard were the crickets! The house is fully equipped (very clean!) and the swimming pool was wonderful! Especially very large and well maintained by the friendly couple Gabriella and Rolando. The house is centrally located in Tuscany, ideal for trips in the area (Siena, Volterra, beaches and the Chianti area (wine). Supermarket, gas station, etc. at 5 km (Pomarance). We enjoyed the Tuscan life! Definitely a repeat experience. susceptible!

We loved La Columbaie

The setting in the Tuscan countryside was amazing. A very charming historic Farmhouse. The hosts were so kind and charming. The pool was beautiful and refreshing. The kitchen was very useful for home cooking. Despite high heat outside, we could close the shutters and windows and keep the house cool until the evening. The night air in the country was so cool to sleep in. A very authentic rural place. We were able to drive to busy sites around Tuscany and then come home to a peaceful and quiet country house. The house was wonderful and the hosts were especially good to us. I very highly recommend it.

Einfach idyllisch!

Wir waren insgesamt 9 Nächte in dieser wunderschönen Unterkunft. Das alte Steinhaus liegt sehr abgelegen und absolut in der Natur. Wir haben die Ruhe rund um genossen, super viele Olivenbäume haben die Atmosphäre perfekt gemacht. Wir können dieses Häuschen nur weiterempfehlen.

Rustic farmhouse in a rural location

We had a lovely week-long stay in this property. It's located just outside the small village of San Dalmazio up a long, private dirt track. The property itself is spacious and rustic with plenty of amenities, including bikes, a barbecue and pizza oven. There are two bathrooms and three bedrooms (two doubles and one twin). But best of all is the large swimming pool which is situated across from the property in an olive grove. The hosts were very friendly and even left us a bottle of wine. The only criticisms (not the fault of the hosts!) was a nearby property at the foot of the hill - they had very noisy farming equipment that they used at evenings and weekends, as well as a nuisance dog that barked all day long. Had it not been for this, our stay would've been a complete paradise.

Super Lage, tolles Haus mit Tradition

Das Haus liegt sehr ruhig und ist normal ausgestattet. Alles was benötigt wird ist vorhanden. Die Vermieterin ist sehr hilfsbereit und freundlich. Wir haben uns sehr wohl gefühlt. Die Lage ist super um fast alle Sehenswürdigkeiten zu errechen. Wir können es nur weiter empfehlen.

Fijne plek voor een heerlijke vakantieweek

Heel hartelijke welkom door de eigenaresse en haar moeder. De zoon wees ons met een zo'n echte Piaggo het weggetje omhoog naar het huis. Mooi groot huis op de berg. Huis heeft veel authentieke inrichting, soms een beetje gedateerd. En ook een moderne vaatwasser en wasmachine. Lekker zwembad met ligstoelen, parasols, hangmat etc. Mooie omgeving, alhoewel helaas uitzicht op de industriële grote koeltoren verderop van de electriteitscentrale (aardwarmte). Mooie wandeling gemaakt door prachtige natuur van het huis naar het gezellige dorpje Pomarance. 's Nachts erg warm in het huis, vanwege het verblijf op de bovenste woonlaag direct onder het dak dat de hele dag in de brandende zon werd opgewarmd. Mooie steden zoals Cortona goed aan te rijden. Al met al een fijne plek voor een heerlijke vakantieweek.

Most beautiful place to stay

We stayed for 2 weeks with our dog and this was one of the most beautiful vacations we’ve ever had. Such a calm place with lots of space. Everything was fine, the host was so kind and the house was clean. 1 hour to Siena, one hour to the beach - couldn’t be much better. We will come back!! Highly recommended

Urlaub im Niegendwo

Das Haus liegt 15 min zu Fuss entfernt von San Dalmazio- einem Ort im Nirgendwo. Der Lebensmittelladen von Stefano ist abends das Ristorante... sehr viel mehr braucht man nicht. Das Haus ist wunderbar einsam gelegen, der Pool ist riesengross, und der Pizzaofen unterm Haus hat Spass gemacht.

Paradise

A wonderful house in a breathtaking area. Pool is amazing and the kitchen so cosy and spacious. Maximum 6 people should stay there though. A bit too warm inside at night but bearable. Sitting outside next to the garage for diner is amazing because of the view and the quiet and peaceful atmosphere. The owners of the house are very nice but don’t speak English at all. But that’s not a problem. Getting there is s bit tricky so it’s better to actually call them before and meet them somewhere else (an address that is on the GPS). You definitely need a car to go to the supermarket and then you can also go to the beach (40 km) or to one of the amazing cities around. The little restaurant that you can walk to is great. Extremely friendly owners, and great food. We don’t eat any animal products and they had no problem preparing delicious food for us. However walking there you need to go through the dark woods at night and partly also walk on the street. But it’s not far. Highly recommended!!!
