A Home Away from Home

We’ve stayed with Catina several times, and each visit feels like coming home. The atmosphere is peaceful and welcoming, allowing us to truly slow down and enjoy the moment. Catina is a wonderful host, and her place has become our favorite spot in Italy. We always look forward to returning.

Erholung pur und Kunst so nah

Wir haben uns vom ersten bis zum letzten Moment sehr wohl gefühlt. Die Vermieter sind vor Ort und sehr herzlich, helfen gerne weiter, sind aber sonst mit ihren Dingen beschäftigt. Das Haus und der Garten sind wunderschön und ganz ruhig. Florenz ist von einer kleinen Bahnstation in der Nähe ganz entspannt mit dem Zug zu erreichen. Insofern lässt sich Erholung in der Natur und Kunstgenuss super verbinden. Wir werden wiederkommen!

Wohlfühloase in historischem Landgut

Wir haben die Zeit hier sehr genossen, leider waren wir außerhalb der Saison und konnten den Pool nicht genießen. Dafür hat uns aber die Natur und die Ruhe entschädigt. Unsere Gastgeber Catina und Jack waren sehr hilfsbereit und herzlich. Wir können diese Unterkunft nur weiterempfehlen und werden wenn möglich nochmal kommen.

Sehr ruhig gelegenes Ferienhaus mit Ausflugsmöglichkeiten zu den Sehenswürdigkeiten in der Toskana

Das sehr schön eingerichtete Ferienhaus liegt sehr ruhig im Wald. Die Zuwegung ist holprig auf den letzten Metern, aber ohne SUV zu bewältigen. Wichtige Sehenswürdigkeiten sind aufgrund der Nähe zu Autobahnen sehr gut erreichbar. Die Vermieter sind sehr freundlich. Es gab einen Begrüßungskuchen und zwischendurch ein Tiramisu. Anfang September ist Autan empfehlenswert. Viele Mücken aufgrund der Waldlage. Gute Einkaufsmöglichkeiten in der Nähe (ca. 20 Minuten Fahrzeit).

Familienurlaub im Grünen nahe Florenz

Die Ferienwohnung ist liebevoll im Landhausstil individuell eingerichtet (wie auf den Fotos dargestellt). Die Anlage bestehend aus vier Ferienwohnungen liegt direkt im Wald nordöstlich von Florenz in den Bergen. Nach wenigen Autominuten (enge und kurvenreiche Straßen) hat man gute Einkaufsmöglichkeiten für den täglichen Bedarf und einen direkten Bahnanschluss an Florenz (max. 20min Fahrzeit mit dem Zug bis zum Hauptbahnhof in Florenz). Die Vermieterin, die selbst auf dem Grundstück lebt, ist äußerst hilfsbereit und zuvorkommend. Wir haben uns als fünfköpfige Familie (16, 14 und 10) sehr wohl gefühlt.

Ruhe und Gemütlichkeit - trotzdem schnell überall

Unser Aufenthalt (zwei Erwachsene, zwei Kinder) in Castellare war wunderbar. Besonders hervorzuheben sind die geschmackvolle Einrichtung und die Gastfreundlichkeit der Vermieter Catina und Jack. Wir haben uns jederzeit willkommen gefühlt, die Vermieter waren bei Fragen immer greifbar und in der Nähe. Sogar Kuchen und Wein zur Begrüßung, kleine Aufmerksamkeiten zwischendurch und ein Abschiedsgeschenk gab es. Wir kommen gern wieder! Vorsicht bei der Anfahrt: die letzten Meter zur Unterkunft sind etwas steil.

Ein zauberhafter Ort

Ein zauberhafter Ort, an dem man sich sofort wohl fühlt. Catina ist eine super nette und hilfsbereite Vermieterin. Man bekommt von Ihr tolle Insider Tipps, wo man Essen gehen, Einkaufen oder einfach nur am besten Parken kann in Florenz. Das Haus liegt wunderschön ruhig, kein Lärm nur der Kuckuck der einen früh weckt. Wir kommen auf jeden Fall wieder. Danke für die tolle Zeit.

Wunderschöne ruhige Unterkunft mit Charakter

Auch das zweite Mal war wieder ein toller Urlaub mit einer Kombination aus Wandern in den umliegenden Bergdörfern und vorbei an Olivenhainen, Erholung auf dem absolut idyllisch gelegenen und liebevoll gestaltetem Anwesen sowie Besuchen in den gut zu erreichenden Städten wie Florenz, Siena, Pisa... und als Krönung absolut nette Gastgeber, die mit Rat, Tat und Temperament jederzeit ansprechbar waren. Traumhafte Idylle

Wir haben eine wunderbare Woche mit unseren Kindern in Castellare verbracht. Die einsame Lage und natürliche Umgebung laden zum Entspannen ein. Der Pool ist sauber und hat den Kindern super gefallen. Das Haus ist sehr geschmackvoll und gemütlich eingerichtet. Die Vermieter sind ganz besonders herzlich und außerordentlich hilfsbereit. Sie bewirtschaften hinter dem Haus einen Olivenhain und bauen Gemüse an. Hier kann man auch Gemüse und sehr gutes Öl bekommen. Auf dem Gelände sind drei weitere Wohneinheiten und das Haus der Besitzer. Alles ist so gebaut, dass man sich nicht stört und reichlich privaten Bereich zur Verfügung hat. Wir sagen herzlichen Dank und kommen ganz bestimmt wieder!

We had a wonderful stay at Pontassieve. The location is magic, the house furnished and decorated with exquisite taste, the owners and their pets are very friendly and hospitable and Florence can be easily reached by train from nearby Sieci.

Idyllischer Aufenthalt

Das Haus liegt inmitten einer wunderschönen Landschaft und ist sehr schön und geschmackvoll eingerichtet. Es Ist alles vorhanden was man braucht. Die Betten sind hochwertig und bequem. Der gepflegte schöne und grosse Pool läd zum Baden ein. Es erwartet einen ein herzlicher Empfang von Catina , der Vermieterin, mit Kuchen und Wein. Catina und ihr Mann kümmern sich sofort wenn man etwas braucht. Ein wunderschöner Urlaub !!!

schönes Haus in schöner Umgebung mit toller Betreuung

Wir haben zwei Wochen im August 2020 bei Catina verbracht (2E, 3K, 1H). Das Haus von Catina liegt in den Hügeln über Florenz in der Umgebung hübscher Bergdörfer. Die Straßen sind gut, aber eben leichte Serpentinen. Der private Weg zum Haus hoch, also die letzen ca. 500 Meter, sind recht rumpelig und vorsichtig zu fahren, aber man gewöhnt sich dran. :) Bis nach Florenz fährt man schon eine halbe Stunde, plus Parkplatzsuche, für Siena, Pisa, usw. ist man auch innerhalb einer halben Stunde auf der Autobahn. Tagesausflüge in die ganze Toskana und auch nach Viareggio am Meer sind problemlos möglich. Die südliche Toskana (Maremma, Elba) dürfte aber zu weit weg dafür sein. In der Umgebung gibt es Einkaufsmöglichkeiten (per Auto), wobei natürlich die Schließzeiten mittags zu beachten sind. Am Rande von Florenz ist aber ein riesiger Supermarkt, der quasi immer offen ist und alles hat (Esselunga). Restaurants gibt es auch ein paar und man sollte um 19 Uhr hingehen, da ab 20 Uhr alle Italiener essen gehen und es auch mal länger dauern kann. Wir waren drei Mal bei Nappino in Santa Brigida, einem sehr guten Restaurant in zehn Minuten Entfernung. In Molino del Piano gibt es auch eine Apotheke und andere Sachen. Catina hat in den Häusern aber einen Ordner ausliegen, in dem alle Informationen stehen. Natürlich steht sie auch selber für Rückfragen bereit, ihr Englisch ist hervorragend! Catina und ihr Mann sind tolle Gastgeber, die uns auch mit Tiramisu und Kuchen versorgt haben, hervorragend! Das Haus ist in Familienbesitz und per Photovoltaik und Holz selbst versorgt, worum sich ihr Mann kümmert. Es ist rustikal, weswegen es auch im Hochsommer angenehm kühl im Haus ist, es gibt aber auch noch Ventilatoren in den Schlafzimmern. Es ist alles sauber, lediglich in der einen oder anderen Ecke findet man Spinnweben, was uns aber nicht gestört hat. Die Ausstattung der Küche ist gut, es ist alles da, was man braucht (außer Müslischüsseln). Spülmaschine und Waschmaschine funktionieren problemlos. Der Pool war hervorragend für die Kinder, auch wenn sie nicht stehen konnten. Schirme und Liegen waren genug da, auch wenn außer uns nur eine andere Familie im anderen Haus anwesend war. Im Wald drumherum sind natürlich einige Viecher unterwegs, weswegen man sich ordentlich mit Autan eindecken sollte, um nicht zerstochen zu werden, was aber eben Toskana im Hochsommer ist. Insgesamt hatten wir eine sehr schöne, erholsame Zeit und danken Catina für ihre tolle Betreuung!

Castellare - a magical experience!

When I originally booked a month-long stay at Castellare, it was definitely a leap of faith, never having been there before. It's very difficult to get a sense of the property from descriptions and photographs. The main building is on top of a hill, therefore all the pictures are taken from below and always partial. It's almost as though you have to physically experience the space rather than view it in order to grasp its truly magical essence. But once you're there you understand. The lovely drive through picture-perfect Tuscany, the arrival at a wooden gate with "Castellare" hand painted in white, the gut wrenching climb through several hair-pin turns in the gravel road up to the house, and the warm, Italian welcome from Catina and Giacomo once you arrive all lead to an absolute feeling of pleasurable expectation. The four of us stayed in "Stalla", one of four available units on the property. Three of the units are adjacent to Catina and Giacomo's home and one sits slightly off to itself. All are wonderful for different reasons, so the decision of which one to choose is very hard to get wrong. It's truly amazing to stay in a building that has been part of the Italian landscape for centuries and to be hosted by those who have enjoyed and lovingly cared for it for decades. The longer you stay, the more you can feel the presence of Catania and Giacomo in the rooms themselves - in the handmade touches and eclectic furnishings. And then - when their lovely cakes and tiramisu appear on your table - you feel truly feel enveloped in a place that is special. I could continue, but suffice it to say that we will return as often as possible, knowing that it will only get better each time.

Kleines Paradies

Wunderschönes Haus mit allem Komfort, liebevoll eingerichtet und sehr idyllisch gelegen in einer Lichtung mitten im Wald mit Obst- und Olivenbäumen und wunderschönen Rosen!!Die Anfahrt ist ein kleines Abenteuer, aber mit jeder Fahrt geht es besser :) Wir haben die eine Woche sehr genossen, mit Unternehmungen nach Florenz ( sehr bequem von Sieci aus mit dem Zug zu erreichen ) und Umgebung. Aber auch einfach mal am Haus und Pool entspannen. Danke Catina und Jack!!

Très reposant et dépaysant!

Nous avons passé avec nos enfants un agréable et superbe séjour, la location était très confortable, bien décorée dans la campagne environnante de Florence. Catina est une hôte très agréable qui a pris le temps de nous accueillir et de nous donner des informations pratiques. Nous avons été accueilli avec du bon vin local et un très bon gâteau! Nous recommandons vivement cet endroit!

Felt like home

Castellare is a completely peaceful spot in the hills near Florence. The house has real rustic charm and Catina has designed and decorated it with style, taste and love in every detail. It is also very comfortable and cosy, and we immediately felt that we could move right in and never leave this place. Catina and Jack are just perfect hosts, warmhearted, friendly and helpful. Our holiday was perfect apart from being too short. It was the most enjoyable new year's eve we can remember. wonderful stay in the Stalla house

We stayed in the Stalla rental with our three children and it was the perfect size. The upstairs room for the kids had three twin beds. The living area downstairs was just what we needed, very charming and rustic. The kids loved having the pool. While the place was more remote then we realized that soon became a good thing, it was nice to get away from the busy city of Florence. It will take you about a half hour to 45 minutes to get into Florence between driving to the train station and riding the train in. There are some good nearby restaurants, be sure to go to Artemide! Also, get directions to the house from Catina, we learned the hard way that Google maps doesn't quite know where she is. Thanks Catina, great stay!!

Ländliche Ruhe und Entspannung nach viel Gedränge in Florenz

Ja, Catina's Home ist etwas Besonderes: Wir wollten nach dem Gedränge der vielen Menschen in den Kirchen, Museen und Palästen am Tage uns abends in die Stille auf dem Land zurückziehen können. Aber wir wollten doch bequem nach Florenz kommen, ohne Auto. So suchten und fanden wir die Idylle von Catina: Mitten im Wald, umgeben von alten Eichen und jungen Olivenbäumen steht ein schön und liebevoll restauriertes altes Bauernhaus, mit allem Komfort eingerichtet: Backofen, Kühlschrank, Gefrierschrank, Waschmaschine und Geschirrspülmaschine; und an der Decke 200 Jahre alte sichtbare Balken. Schon die Anfahrt ist ein kleines Abenteuer, aber die Wegbeschreibung von Catina führt sicher zum Ziel. Um nach Florenz zu kommen fährt man mit dem Auto nach Sieci, stellt dort das Auto kostenlos auf den Parkplatz am Bahnhof und alle 20 min fährt ein Zug in den Zentralbahnhof von Florenz. Ticket für 2,60 Euro/Person, einfache Strecke, am Münzautomat am Bahnhof. Wir waren mit 4 Erwachsenen im 'Stalla', großer Wohnraum mit Küche, eine Treppe hoch zwei Schlafzimmer mit Dusche und Toilette. Von Catina wurden wir ganz liebevoll mit einem selbstgebackenen Kuchen und einer Flasche Chiantiwein begrüßt. Catina ist einem bei allem behilflich. Sie organisiert Sonderwünsche und umsorgt ihre Gäste aufs Beste. Sie spricht gutes Englisch und fängt an deutsch zu lernen. Wir waren 10 Tage bei Ihr und haben uns sehr wohl gefühlt. Nach den vielen Menschen und dem Gedränge in Florenz war es wie ein 'Heimkommen', wenn wir am Abend in das "Castellare" zurückfuhren. Catina und Catina's Home ist einfach ein schönes und einprägsames Erlebnis. Die Auffahrt zu dem Haus ist ein Schotterweg mit etlichen Kurven, ca 700 m, und für tiefer gelegte Limousinen etwas schwierig. Für unseren VW-Bus und normale Autos aber kein Problem. Surrounded by nature

We were fortunate to stay one week in this quiet, truly magical place. The owner is very kind and friendly. The centre of Florence can be reached by car/train in a few minutes and there is a very good restaurant with traditional cuisine in near Santa Brigida. Highly recommended!

Catina and his husband were so fantastic hosts and you can feel their love for the guest, the nature and the property everywhere there. Beside the awesome guest houses you get nice hints for very good wine and so fantastic ceramics. Near Florenz and the best wine route you have all the best things of Italy there. Italian life. Culture, lovely little towns and good wine. We come back.
