Caution turn away!
I booked the house on January 19, 2025. Communication was poor as we didn't get the address of the house until a couple of days before check in. We never received the check in information from the host. We began our journey of 500 miles and as we were driving we tried to reach out to the host to get check in information. About one hour before arrival we were notified that the house was not available. We were six hours from home and had spent considerable money on events and attractions for the stay. It took about an hour to get someone from VRBO on the phone. They told us there was a major power outage in the area and the home was not available for the week due to the power outage. We were told the host had another home that was comparable in the area and we could use it. VRBO put us in touch with the host and we agreed to move to the alternate property. Once we arrived at the alternate property we realized it was a new construction and we were the first occupants. Construction material was still on site. Plumbing did not work properly, no washer or dryer, no WiFi, no towels, sheetrock dust everywhere, and the home was just not ready to rent. We reached out to the host and he would not return calls or texts. We went to Walmart and bought what we needed to make the stay bearable. We then discovered the home was listed for sale. This peaked our interest on the original property. The original property was occupied with a family. We were scammed.
