Overall, we had a very mixed experience. The location is good and the beach area is very nice. The pool is huge and the resort is quite large overall. They keep the grounds groomed and seem to handle the number of guests very well. Generally the staff were kind. Thankfully, we were not hounded to sign up for the timeshare. Only once approached about the “VIP club experience”, but he quickly accepted a no-thank-you answer.
The room was adequate. A little outdated, but not terribly so. It shows its age and isn’t as clean looking as I would have liked. We had a family suite with two full beds, and they filled the space they were in, requiring a person to get off the bottom of the bed. The bathroom was probably the worst. There was no working fan, so showers made the whole suite sticky humid. The shower was really good, with excellent water pressure. If I brought little kids, I would’ve been worried because the hot water got hot enough to scald.
The food was mediocre. The buffet had mostly the same things at every meal, and the options weren’t great. It’s the only option because the specialty restaurants are impossible to get in to. The French, Italian and Steakhouse restaurants were booked for every night we were there by the time we arrived. We walked by at night, and they were rarely more than half full. Frustrating. Worst of all, two of our party got mild food poisoning. We only ate at the resort, so I know where it came from.
Not terrible, but I won’t be going back.
