We had a bad experience at the Colonial due to poor service from the staff. At check in and throughout the stay the front desk wasnt very helpful when it came to resort/amenities information. On our second day we asked for breakfast room service, the breakfast was undercooked and the person who delivered the food was very rude and wouldnt respond to any questions we asked. Due the poor service we decided to try the beach buffet instead. At the buffet we were rushed by the staff so they could clear tables for the lunch buffet. At one point we were even directly told by one of the buffet staff to hurry up and leave, which we found very curious since there were other tables that were also still occupied by guests that were not being rushed by the buffet staff. Only difference we could see was that we were hispanic and the other tables weren't (guess they assumed we were locals and it was ok to treat us poorly). We didnt finish our food due to the bad service and went to guest services to give feedback. They offered to retrain the employees in question.
Next day, we went for dinner at the buffet. We noticed the same buffet staff leering constantly at our table which made us very uncomfortable. We came to the Colonial for a relaxing vacation and instead had to deal with rude staff. This is a stark contrast to the neighboring Majestic resort where the staff make it a point to be accommodating and make guests feel welcome throughout their stay. Would not recommend Colonial.
