The first day we arrived and checked in, there was no welcome mocktail or wet towel like at other resorts we’ve been to. Check-in was smooth, but the front desk agent forgot to give us our bracelets. We also let them know it was our anniversary and birthday celebration. They said they would do something special for our room, but that never happened.
The bellboy helped us with our luggage, and we went to our room. Once we got settled, my husband kept complaining about the smell of the sheets and pillows. I didn’t notice anything at first because I hadn’t laid on the bed like he did. However, that night I couldn’t sleep because there was definitely a wet, mildew smell coming from the sheets, and it was very strong on the pillows.
The following day, we asked to change rooms for two reasons: the smell and the fact that there was no elevator in our building. They told us there are only two buildings with elevators. Keep in mind, most of the buildings have three or four flights of stairs. We were on the highest floor in our first room.
We moved to a second room in one of the buildings with an elevator, but we had the same issues. After a day, the sheets felt moist again. We came to the conclusion that it was likely due to the ventilation or air conditioning in the rooms. At that point, it didn’t seem to matter which room we were in.
As for the food/drinks—honestly, it was not good.
