Initially I was so disappointed walking in.(keep reading. This takes an unexpected turn.)
The first impression when walking in is, “run down, funky smells, dimly lit”. The check in process felt rushed, unwelcoming. The pet fee is tied for the highest in town. One elevator is broken down. The other one is pretty raggedy. Decor outdated, walls and carpets stained.
Hotels usually reserve first floor rooms for those with dogs. Pet rooms are usually hard floor, not carpet. But we were on the 2nd floor in a carpeted room. This was inconvenient for walking dog. Not a deal breaker, but definitely a bummer.
Then we walked into the room. Housekeeping does a phenomenal job. The rooms need to be updated, but the housekeeping staff is doing a great job! Very clean. I was pleasantly surprised by the spacious rooms.
After the bummer common areas, i was expecting small, cramped rooms. That was the case. The rooms were great.
Breakfast in the morning was mediocre at best. But a.m. desk staff was awesome: helpful, friendly, informative.
Would stay again but would request a ground floor room for Fido.
This hotel does not match our experiences with Ofher Hampton Inn’s. It’s in serious need of updating/renovating. But the onsite staff is going a great job with what they’ve got.
