Summary:
Mountain cabin charm with an in town location, the Brown Bear Lodge is a rustic cabin located in Buettner Park in Red Lodge. This historic cabin housed WPA workers in the 1930’s as they built the Beartooth Pass. Enjoy amenities including a hot tub, plenty of sleeping, TV and WIFI, and it is pet friendly. Brown Bear Lodge is the perfect place to unwind after a day of exploring!
The Space:
As you come into Buettner Park, there is a feeling of entering your private getaway. There are many small cabins in the neighborhood, but also many old growth trees, lawns, and small roads. Brown Bear Lodge is easily accessible from the main road and is one of the first homes in the neighborhood. There is a private parking area and small yard that is fenced. This is great for your furry friends to have a place to themselves.
Walk in the cabin and there is an open dining area and livingroom with a gas fireplace for cozy winter nights. There are two futon beds with bedding provided for guests.
The kitchen is equipped with all your essentials for making meals during your stay. We also provide coffee for you so you can wake up ready to go! With this being an older, smaller kitchen space, there is no dishwasher.
Off of the livingroom is your first bedroom with a full bathroom. There is a comfortable full bed and dresser for your essentials. The closet has the bedding for the livingroom futons as well.
Off of the first bedroom is the hot tub room. Enjoy a soak in this three person hot tub and dont fret about the wintery weather outside! All your towels for the home are stored in this room and there is also a dryer for refreshing those towels during your stay. There is no washer, only the dryer. There is also ironing supplies for your use.
Through the hot tub room is the second bedroom with two beds. This room has nice views of the back lawns where you will frequently see deer and wildlife.
Each bathroom is a full bathroom with bathtub shower combos. The orginal cast iron bath tubs are a little larger than standard, making it great for baths! Each bathroom is stocked for your stay including shampoo, conditioner, body wash, towels, and toilet paper.
The interior layout resembles an alley style home where you go through one room to get to the next. The two bedrooms are adjoinging the hot tub room. You must walk through one bedroom to the hot tub room, then to the second bedroom. Being an older building the ceilings are lower than standard height.
Guest Access:
Private access to the cabin and the private parking/yard space. Out the back, there are shared lawns.
The Neighborhood:
Brown Bear Lodge is located in the heart of Red Lodge, Montana. This cabin was built in the 1930`s. Rustic charm and walking distance from downtown.
Buettner Park and Fountain Park are located on the South side of Red Lodge. The neighborhood has lots of old growth trees, lush green lawns that are shared throughout the community, and multiple little cabins each one unique. There are original stone halfwalls around the neighborhood. It is a tucked away treasure yet still walkable to everything in town!
If you are looking to enjoy the natural beauty of the area, Red Lodge is hard to beat. Enjoy watching the wildlife wander by including deer, moose, and turkeys. Red Lodge has many parks for that have great amenities including river access for Rock Creek, disc golf, tennis and pickleball, play structures, basketball courts. ice skating in the winter and farmers markets in the summers, baseball fields and soccer fields, a city pool, and green spaces with canopies of trees. There are also several trails including Rocky Fork trail that follows the edge of the bench for great views or a small trail down by Rotary Park that follows the river.
For the adventurers Red Lodge is nestled at the base of the Beartooths and sits just outside the Custer-Gallatin National Forest. So whether you want to explore the Nordic Trails in the winter, hike the mountain trails in the summer, or angle the rivers and streams, we have it all in our backyard.
Skiers and Riders can come together here at Red Lodge Mountain and enjoy the fresh groomed trails of Lazy M or find themselves in the steeps and deeps of Headwaters.
The Beartooth Highway is must in the Summer months. Take in the views from one of the most scenic drives in the country. The Beartooth Highway will bring you to the top of the world and you will enjoy high cascade lakes, wildlife, wildflowers, and stunning twists and turns.
Yellowstone National Park is only 70 miles south of Red Lodge via the Beartooth Pass in the summer months. It is about a 3 hour tour to get there through Silver Gate, but it is a trip you wont forget!
Getting Around:
Only one block from Red Lodge's charming main street.
Yellowstone National Park is about 70 miles away via the Beartooth Pass, which is a beautiful scenic drive, but it takes at least two hours to get there due to the twists and turns.
Red Lodge Mountain is only about 15 minutes away.
Other Things to Note:
Layout has access to a bedroom and hot tub room through a bedroom. Ceilings are lower than standard height. There is no dishwasher, washer, or A/C
