We stayed here as a group of 10 people, 7 adults and 3 children between our two families. The house is set in a very rural setting, more rural than we expected. The roads are very narrow and part of it was a dirt road as well. Be warned that they are two way streets as well! However, the final destination is well worth it. The property is very private, completely fenced in - our dog was extremely happy there - and the settings are just beautiful. Plenty of outdoor space to lounge around which we did a bit of. The kitchen and the house is well stocked, we were not lacking for anything. It was such a pleasant experience to have everything there and prepare dinners, lunches and take advantage of the gorgeous views and sunsets. The nearest town is about a 7-10 minute drive away, we explored a bit but most of our time was taken up being tourists at Siena, Florence, the Chianti area. Florence was about a 40 minute drive, Siena about an hour and Chianti about 40 minutes as well. Take the time to do your research on where you want to go and how to drive there. Most of it can be done via highway but the local roads are well worth the drive for the amazing views and charming towns! We plan to go back to the Chianti area as a result!
We arrived also to a welcome basket which provided us with the essentials and Claudio was very helpful in telling us where to go for the markets - Figiline Vardano is the larger town which has a fabulous huge supermarket that rivals Whole Foods in the states. The beds were comfortable and the bedrooms were quite large as well. Bathrooms were great, lots of hot water and our evenings for the most part were cool. The house does have air conditioning and they provided fans too. Be prepared for farm life as you will hear roosters nearby and see wild boars. (Our kids loved that!)
This house and setting allows you to do as much as you want or as little as you want. We actually preferred to be at the house during sunset time, it was just so peaceful and beautiful. I highly recommend this for large parties, reunions and families. We truly enjoyed our time there and would love to come back.
Thank you Claudio, Nicola and Antonella for your wonderful hospitality! We miss being there already!
